X does indeed skip the cutscene's. Thanks.
And RT does work the turret-gun. Thanks again.
Guess my "press for a millisecond" got no response so I panicked at used my own weapons instead
Chapter 1
Defeated the Beserker late last night, top notch bosses as well
This game is so good I'm been really taking my time investigating everything, time to crack on now though ....
Oh and I'm using the vibrant setting on my Monitor (via VGA) much better than the default setting imo.

As predicted, finished this today and overall I've really, really enjoyed it. Everything I'd hoped for
The game's not perfect (is there such a thing?) but it's bloody brilliant from start to finish.
The biggest issues for me had to be that Dom's stupidity on times and his refusal to stay under cover and keep getting himself killed. Still, co-op is where this is at to sort that issue out.
I'd agree that the ending is
blatant sequel setup, but to be honest with Cliffy and co talking about a sequel a few months back
it's not really a surprise. I can't wait to see Gears 2
Regarding the Story - *major spoilers*
I do think it's a bit of an oddity and nothing is really explained properly. It's not mind bendingly difficult stuff to understand but there were a few things left unexplained. The key one that springs to mind was what was Marcus' father doing mapping the tunnels and how did Marcus not know about this?
I was also disappointed by his total lack of emotion at returning to his family home and finding a secret lab in its basement?!
I did like how it was a massive ironic twist that they had the data in their hands right at the start of the game before the grunt tossed the data orb into the hole. Would have saved them all a lot of trouble

Finished this on Casual earlier, and my only gripe was that I hoped it would've lasted longer! It was that good, in my humble opinion anyway.
It's hard to pick certain scenarios out because they were all a joy to play (one of mine being the Pitch Black-esque Kryll segment) and I kinda feel Epic didn't want to overkill it by making the game too long and drawn out. As they popular saying goes, less is more and given the ending sequence, there's still a lot unresolved and undoubtedly scope for the sequel.
Next up, Hardcore, well... already made a start with the aid of EvilBoris. ****ing funny times, we managed to
fry each other accidentally with the MC Hammer of Dawn on more than one occassion, EB also noted the statue in Act 1 looked like Wacko Jacko too.
In short, this game is in a league of it's own with regards to co-operative play.
Awesome stuff and easily contender for GOTY!

Without spoiling it, the ending bit probably extended that a bit more than it should have since, despite it being quite obvious what you had to do, I couldn't see if for the life of me
edit: Just had a thought about my previous post about the storyline.
What if most of the missing questions are to be answered by Downloadable Content with Epic releasing new Chapters?
How's that for a conspiracy theory?Last edited by Spatial; 12-11-2006, 17:12.

I found the last boss to be a nightmare, took me an hour on normal. Once I sussed it out though, I reloaded and went into hardcore. Took 2 tries.
Online has been an oddity. I hated it with a passion at first. Now I've got to grips with it all, I'm pretty damn good at it. Hate cheap swarming tactics though, there really is nothing an overwhelmed player can do. I have had success against the last 2 opponents and myself. Really has been a different experience online, such a slower pace of play that took time to get used too.
Also, I have this vague feeling of Halo 2 about this game, think it was all the hype. I'm the only person to feel let down by the game, despite it being so solid I was expecting something more.
