one player is superb but for me 2 player sucked.

the reduced draw distance, lower frame rate and lack of cpu controlled trucks just makes it a vastly inferior experience.

I can't tell you how bad I am at the gate challenges. Even mid-way through the challenges, when the gates are still fairly wide, I can't seem to hit them.

Well done. You've cleared the training mode then.

Oh so wrong diddly wrong wrong. It (Super Excite) is much tougher. Think you can breeze to first place in Super Excite and claim those 50 stars? Think again. Super Excite is where the game starts. You need to go back and be schooled.

Now mirror mode I'll grant you is just Super Excite reversed, but by the time you've unlocked it your so in love with the game you'll want to keep going.

Christ. That's hugely impressive. Have you posted the video yet? What truck did you use?

It's by far the hardest part of the game. Hard Challenge China Gate run is keeping me awake at night. It requires inhuman levels of concentration. You basically need a completely perfect run and fast.

My tip is whilst the gates are wide try to stay off the ground as much as the course will allow it's easier to steer through them in the air if they're more or less in a straight line. You'll need to use the brake too and pulsing turbo drift action. Even grazing the gate counts as a pass, so just make sure you hit one of the posts if you can't hit the middle.

Man, you're not wrong there! I've *just* managed to S-rank it though, 149 points. I missed a gate too, so I'll have to go back and perfect it at a later date.

Just a few more to get on Mirror Mode and Super Challenge and I'm done. I can still see myself going back later to rinse as many points as I can out of each track though

Do you think there's a theoretical maximum points limit for a track? Just wondering whether those that are really good at this game (not me!) could maybe estimate the maximum points, and still finish the race, for a given course?

I bought Excite Truck on the day it was released and only just finished the 'Excite' mode and a few challenges so I hardly 'whore the ****e' out of the game.

As for Madbury, if I do not enjoy the game very much then to say that I will love the game because I did the 'training mode' is a bit out of order.

I really enjoyed and put a lot of time and effort into Excitebike 64 but this game does absolutely nothing for me and is disappointing to play a game that can easily be ported to the GameCube and offer analogue control.

I agree that Super Excite mode is tougher but I can't grasp any motivation to go through all the same tracks over and over again. I was expecting new tracks or new routes within the old tracks but the developers decided to be lazy and notch-up the amount of stars you require to be graded.

A sequel to Excitebike 64 would be preferable over this effort.

I got this yesterday and started to play it, intending to have a quick shot. I looked up and 1 and a half hours had passed! I love this game. Was kinda put off by a lot of reviews, but it's a good job I go with my instinct. It's like a brilliant cross between burnout, f-zero and and offroad game. My mate looked at me like I was mad when I explained to him that you spend most of the time in the game 'flying'!

Something definately just clicks after an hour or so of play.

I've now at least A ranked every race on Super Excite. Just have to get some difficult S Ranks!

Hehe. I've been playing it since November silly

Fair dos it's horses for courses .

Agreed it could be ported to the Gamecube, but for my money the remote adds a sense of immediacy to the game that would be lost on an analogue stick with its centering spring. I don't really have a problem with more traditional games appearing on the Wii. I certainly wouldn't say that games using the remote to mimick a traditional control setup are disappointing to play.

That's a real shame. I hope that you do go back to this eventually and give it a proper shot on Super Excite. There is an extra track in there at the end, plus the increased pace of the opposition necessitates a different approach to the tracks compared with Excite mode.

I only got a short play on Excitebike 64, but really enjoyed what was in there. Hopefully we'll see it on the VC soon. Some sort of motorcross game on the Wii using the remote to shift the bike is a bit of a no-brainer really, so I'm sure we'll see something eventually. Anyone who's played Microsoft's Motorcross Madness on the PC using a Sidewinder Freestyle pad will have some idea as to how awesome it could be with tilt control.

Finally unlocked Mirror and Super Challenge over the weekend, the latter of which currently seems almost impossible (except the 'crash' stages which are pretty easy). What's peculiar is I'm finding Mirror Mode extremely tough going too, weird, as it shouldn't be any more difficult than Super Excite.

Got this yesterday after a tip off by another forumite. I hate driving games generally, only ever played Mario Kart, but I absolutely adore this. One of the most fun experiences I have had for a long time. I explained to the chap that recommended it that it is like partying with some dumb bimbo, tapping a keg of Bud and listening to AC/DC turned up to 11, all done whilst coming up on good, happy drugs.

Ace description! I love this game too. It's just big dumb fun. Nothing wrong with that at all!
