I just got past that bit spatial, it is pure evil.

Completed it on normal last night - I must say I wasn't particularly impressed by what happens at the end.

"To Be Continued" and then the credits roll - wtf, so I don't even get a conclusion to the story :/

I'm finding this quite boring, I dunno, just lacks character for me. G.R.A.W provides a better experience I feel. The cover system isn't a patch on Gears' either and at least you stick to the walls in that, this I've found very hit and miss.

It's my first RS game and I guess I was expecting more from it and ended up feeling completely underwhelmed.

Oh well, bring on Ghost Recon 2.

It usually ends us with one of us (or all three of us) being turned into meaty chunks. This game is bringing the pain but tbh I'm still loving it
I just equipped my Assasult Rifle with a 6X scope. Then you can kill them from a distance but eventually you will need to change your weapon as it is a bit useless in close combat :P

I am on this part, I haven't completed it yet (I somehow die very simply, when I get quite far) I will have a try again when i get bored of the Wii :P

I crumbled and played the game last night. (My shopto copy has gone AWOL, so I had to get another copy locally)

I have completed the first level (Mexico) on Normal. It was a nice length, and took a reasonable time to complete.

I thought that the tunnels section was very well done, and I hadn't read the spoilers, which was great!

The SP, so far, seems OK but not grabbing me like GR:AW did. I intend to get the SP done, and then save the coop for Christmas time.

Jury is well and truly out for me, but I suspect the tango hunt will be the mode that grabs me as I loved the demo.

Visuals are nice, but I have had 2 crashes in 3 hours.... 1.) When I mapped my face it hung the xbox. 2.) I got stuck in the scenery by the

I am impressed with the AI so far, and I love the weapons.

Initial impressions: A good solid game, with ace coop modes, but not a GR:AW beater for me so far.

This is amazing, possibly best 360 game of the year for me. Definatly my fave FPS on the machine by far. Love the atmosphere and the first level is amazing, it out GRAW's GRAW with no effort. Infact I'd say this has all of the best elements of every Clancy game in one neat and tidy package.

Love the graphics (not mind-blowing but very solid and clear with some awesome filters etc) and sound.. wow this game has the best 5.1 surround sound EVER. Seriously, it's like watching that film Heat- the gunfire and bullets hitting things around you sound so deep and realistic, it really is very immersive. The ambient noises in the backround are also very good- babies screaming and some of the audio FX in the first level (the tunnel bit) are just WOW.

The gameplay puts you in loads of cool situations, like using the spy cam from Splinter Cell to look under a door and getting your homies to breach from elsewhere and clear the room. Also, there was one bit where we were in an empty church and these bad ass terrorists burst in.. we were pinned back behind a few pews and I was low on ammo, so only taking pot shots while my team took them out. One of my team got shot in the face and fell down, got the other member to 'fix' him but that takes time- looked up and the enemy were all advancing towards me QUICKLY. Put my machine gun above my head and did some blind fire taking 1 out and forcing the other 3 into cover but my ammo ran out, so I quickly selected my crappy handgun (backup weapon) and kept doing pop-shots, amazingly I killed the other 2 but one was retreating, ran after him but couldn't find him. I picked up his dead mates shotgun and he suddenly ran at me shooting, one shotgun blast to his chest had him through the door like a mother****er! While happy with my kill I didn't notice this other guy coming at me point blank with a shotgun, **** myself and thought I was dead for sure but at the last second he got gunned down by my teammates who came to help me.. I didn't even know the bitch was there until he screamed 'die', he fired on his fall and left a hole in the wall literally inches from where I was stood

That's why I like the Rainbow 6 games so much, very unpredictable fights like that (almost Halo1-esque). Had a few goes online and it was very good, not quite upto black arrow standards but there has not been a console deathmatch game that is yet IMO. Got to practice to get better, then get into some online co-op. Also mapped my face in using the Camera, wish it didn't give me a skinhead but I like it anyway!

All in all, despite a few niggles I'm bloody loving this.. Much better then expected!

I'm loving this, the team mate AI is fantastic, as is the enemies.
Only on a couple of occasions have I had my buddies do something totally idiotic.

Exactly what I came on to post. Worst. Ending. Ever! Still I enjoyed it a lot, I'll be moving on to finish GoW now.

The cover system in R6:V is much better than GoW and fits into the type of game it is much better. You can control your cover much more easily than in Gears. Gears feels counter-intuitive after this.

I find it hard to believe theirs an ending worse than Splinter cell Double Agent

I feel the complete opposite TBH. There are two things I like about the Cover System in Vegas. The ease of sticking to cover (although I just said that, I do prefer Gears way as I find holding down L a nusiance) and being able to do a 360 degrees look around a door which is pretty useful. Otherwise, I think while you're in cover, R6V Feels incredibly chunky (while most fans of R6V will say getting into cover in gears feel chunky, they seem to forget that only one aspect of the cover system ).

Theres a few things which I feel makes the R6V cover feel very disjointed, the most major mistake is that you can't move from cover to cover. nothing breaks immersion like sticking to a door, finding you have to move so you let go of L, go back into first person, go to the left of the door and then hold L and return to third person. Another annoyance is that not all cover areas properly connect to each other. Why can't my character remain walking in cover along the wall just because the wall sticks a few inches out? And why can't my character just simply move around the corner of the room instead of getting stuck?

I dislike saying "R6V misses Feature X which game X has", but in comparison I think R6V would work better with it. One feature of Gears cover is that when you're at the edge of cover or by a door, you can leave cover while running forward. I think R6V would of worked wonderful with this. Someone opening the opening while the others quickly rushing in.

The last two annoyances of Vegas are minor, so I'll just say them quickly. Blind Fire is actually useless, maybe I haven't 'mastered' it yet, but unelss you're really close, its not worth boring with at all. Second, whats up with aiming the other way while in cover. Your character seems to move incredibly slow and actually slower than aiming through a scope.

Saying all of this, I do agree that both cover systems work very well in their game enviroments. BUT (and theres always a but ), I can see alot more consideration and thought put into Gears Cover than Vegas. With Vegas, it feels like they got half way through development and thought, "Hey, wouldn't cover work well in this game?". Luckily for them, the playing style in Rainbow Six totally accomodates the Cover system which is why it gets away with it.

I've found that generall the cover system works very well, although I still prefer gears.
My most frequent problem in R6 is that you will be covered behind a low wall or whatever and you want to pop out and shoot, but for whatever reason the game doesn't seem to think that Pressing UP on the stick should do that, instead you will just walk.

                            Comment

I like both cover systems but I definitely "prefer" GoW over this. I dont think its the actual cover system itself though but more the level design and what walls/object are tagged for cover.

In R6 I constantly find myself caught out by the cover system in certain situations where the object you are behind doesnt interact as you'd expect but in GoW I find I am hardly ever caught out in this regard.

Doesnt matter though, both are great and usable. Now if I could re-teach myself not to press LT every time I want to aim in R6V that would be something. GoW has alot to answer for...
