anyone got any tips to beat the level 4 boss (i think its level 4) the giant fly thing.

Everytime the battle restarts my LDE (Or whatever your life bar is called) is only on like 1400 and even if getting into the VS and blasting the **** ouf of it with the rocket launcher, I still end up dying... Go in for attacks, move away, I hover up when he shoots at me and nothing.

I get his healt down to about 1/4 left but them I'm a goner. I do know his weak point is his chest, I know that at least...

Got to the big VS boss last night - i think it was level 8.

A brilliant boss fight. Got to the middle, where he breaks down a piller and grab the grenade launcher, take out the 3 smaller VS's...... then its on!

Run to the side and grapple up to the higher ledge to jump in a VS and shoot sh*t out of the massive mech. Dodge round him like Ali, and keep popping shots at him with my rocket launcher and gatling gun.... keeping an eye on my ever diminishing life and T-energy.

Then suddenly, he catches me with a rocket, the VS is gonna explode, so I jump out. T energy is 50, he charges towards me and nooooooooooooooo, he takes me out. GAME OVER screen.

I'll have my revenge tonight though, mark my words.

      (I love this game!)

Worked through some more of the campaign last night so can concentrate on the live portion and progressing well. Playing on normal and aint really came across anything that has given me serious trouble. Am on Mission 8 and each boss has fell after between 1 and 5 attempts with Green Eye being the most troublesome because of the poor setting for the fight more than anything... boost the wrong way and trapped between him and a wall, not good.

Loved the big spider boss you fight where you just drop into its nest in a mech and start the fight.

Game is really starting to lay the gauntlet down in the mission itself now though and am absolutely loving the advanced NEVEC mechs am getting a hold of now, some of them look far too mean

This is def one that I will be playing through again on hard, maybe even extreme as the boss fights are just so well pitched that they are begging you to come back for another, tougher fight, hehe.

Great! Maybe that will tell me how many points i need for the next level

I did love all that stuff when they did it for halo. Especially the maps of who shot who and from where, allowed you to analyse your technique!

Before the fight you need to dig out the double-jump mech from the ledge below, shoot the energy tank, collect the energy, and then jump back up to start the fight. Whilst he's flying around during his initiation sequence take out the two energy tanks that stand next to each other for more T-ENG. You should have 25 missiles and a gatling gun, keep hammering him with the gatling and don't be too affaid to get too close, if you can catch him with one missile you should be able to combo the other three in for massive damage (so keep reloaded for each pass). If you're not using the big rock as a shield try and shoot his little exploding friends up with the gatling, depending on their formation you can get them to chain-explode.

Once he's at 50% he will fly away, in this time you need to shoot out the remaining energy tank behind the rock and wait for him to charge at you, he will fly into the rock and get stunned for a few seconds, in this time jump on the rock and pick up the 12 rockets that sit there. Now concentrate on hammering him with both the rockets and the remaining missiles until he's down, just keep moving to avoid his spray attacks and try and use the rock as a shield. Not much you can do against the firework nuke apart from exitting and re-entering your mech for 2/3 seconds of invincibility.

Emir found out you can shoot his wings off which buys you time for ploughing into him more. I didn't know that but managed to beat him on extreme with the above strat anyway.

I might be making some vids this weekend, or maybe next after I've cleared everything.

Also, only just found out last night that jumping/rolling etc uses up T-ENG faster!

I'd expect that to be the other way around as the more you keep active the warmer your body should be without assistance. I suppose that would break the game somewhat.

You might have to crank the volume up on the speakers at home 'cause it's a little quiet.
It's basically just showing the methods to avoid all the five-way attack of death from all those rolling Akrid ****ers. I very nearly die during one part because I was too late in diving out of the boss' way. The ****er gets it in the end though. Enjoy.
Oh wow! We posted at the same time last night so I missed this originally. Unfortunately I can't view youtube at work

I also only realised last night that all the enrgy weapons use your T-Eng even the human handheld ones drain it faster... makes sense considering thave have infinite ammo I suppose (As long as you have energy of course).

Have also started using the Grapple hook cancel quite well and it is VERY useful. Only thing that the GHook is missing is being able to sue it while you are falling, that would have been sweet.

thanks DavidFallows. I had the VS with the double jump but my game saved at the boss fight so I think I'll have to start the level over again cause when I died the first time I lost it, now the boss battle starts over again straight away and I aint got it!! GRRR....

I was using the rock as a shield and was pummeling him... Think I need the double jump VS as it really seems to help with the bitch.... Wheres the missiles though? Cud do with finding them. Are they on top of the rock with the rockets?

The double-jump mech is essential for this. He's buried underneath the snow and his missiles are on his left arm and are immovable.

It should be easy enough to drop down after the fight starts to pick it up.

Also, when he flys away to charge his attack you need to use the super-jump (Y) if you're no where near the rock. That'll take a couple of goes to refine the timing though.

The laser cannon should be a viable option on normal/hard as T-ENG should be by the bucket load.

I thought that, especially at the beginning of Level 5, I just couldn't get up the mid point ledge.
However, except for that I don't really think it's been an issue. Would be nice though. Mario Sunshine had the same problem, you couldn't use the hose again once it's boost thingy ran out.

Thanks for that... will try it when I get home.

This is the first FPS I haev played since Halo 2, and I only played that for a wee bit as I suck at them...

Think I'm doing quite well. Playing on normal and only died once on that stupid cliff with the grapple where you're on the moving ledge... (Just couldnt get off as the fykers were shooting me!!) And then again during this fly bitch fight...

Think I'm finally going to play Gears of War after. Had the Collectors one since day after release and never got around to playing it...
(I'll probably get screamed at for not playing this yet)

Think Lost Planet will be finished first, bt then I have to scratch up the pretty sleeve again to put the disc back. It really pisses me of that the side of the steelbook scratches the paint off of the bind of the sleeve.

Gears should be a walk in the park if you finish this on normal.

Most of my insanely casual real-life friends had finished it on insane a day or two after release so I'd so. I got to mission two before falling asleep too many times and trading it in for a Wii component lead and VC pad.

Saying that I got stuck at one part. , but I was missing something totally obvious being a mong and that.

lol sure you're not a mong. Just hardcore gamers tend to miss out the obvious. LOL
