Nah, I see where he's coming from. It's quite perverse.

Imagine if Wayne was on MvC2, he'd come on to assist and then about 5 of the Goron type Akrid would run over both him and the enemy for the actual damage. The game is about getting beat up, and then escaping from those situations with basic human evasion, with a little help from the grapple hook (and on extreme scraping back the T-ENG by dealing out some ass-kicking in return). It looks ace when you're diving out of massive danger with basic means, it's really impressive for folks just starting the game which is why I'm eager to get some vids made this weekend. For people that don't play games it's like watching a hollywood blockbuster.
Cheers Fallows. You explained it a lot better than I could!

I knew what I meant, i just couldnt express how much enjoyment you can get from getting out of the sticky situations. Thats part of the fun!

Hold the phone, so which bits is Wayne Immune? In the rolling animation?

Do you enjoy things like temporary traffic lights at roadworks, with no-one actually working on them?
Couldn't agree more, it's not in any way enjoyable for me, perverse or otherwise. Hence why I'm on mission 6 and haven't played the game in two days.

This is yet to be vigorously tested so be careful but if we know Capcom then the roll should have some invincibility frames. Getting in and out of mechs has immune frames aswell, you just need to get the timing right.

The game doesn't feature splash damage (unless we're talking grenades, obviousleh) which is physically sound. Your player does however stagger about in a startled fashion when something blows up close by, a much better system IMO.

The roll can negate the stagger effect as you're mid-air and not in any contact with the rumbling floor during that brief moment. Again, physically (as well as aesthetically) sound. It's great to see a company take new directions when it comes to what I consider the most important part of any combat game, the explosions and direct fire. IE: I don't think you can roll into a rocket or Akrid and get away from it so it's not invincible as such.

This is by far the best game I've played on a Microsoft console.

As for DMC3, I missed the launch through not having any cash at the time. Never really played a DMC game.

Being a Halo fanboy I can't fully agree but I really am surprised at just how much I've enjoyed the game. It's certainly up there with Halo and Ninja Gaiden for me. I played some Gears last night and it feels so restrictive and clunky compared to Lost Planet.

Enjoying this. A little underwhelmed after coming from Gears but that was to be expected.

Some missions are incredibly short, they have the scale but seem to be sparse enemy wise, especially as the enemy as about as dumb as I've seen in any game.

A solid run and gun blast-a-thon.

Back story is shockingly bad, Jesus, how much of a cliche is the avenging your fathers death?

I bought it mostly for the multiplayer, liked that demo so much more than the single player. Should deliver but I'll finish single player first.

So the big question is - what is better? Gears of War or lost planet.

I love gears of war, and it was my favourite 360 game, but i do think Lost Planet has pipped it to the post.

You poor lad... if you are feeling the love working through the system in this then DMC3 is something you really MUST look into. The most insane combat system ever created and a REAL man sized challenge if you got the stones. Plus, Boss battles that will make you cry blood.

I just hope the later boss battles in Lost Planet maintain the standard the early ones have.

Lost Planet for me though it's mighty close as co-op holds a lot of sway. If it wasn't for co-op I'd say LP by miles.

I hated Gears. Run too close to a wall and you ****ing bob down behind it. There should be a button for that ****. Far too context sensitive for my liking.

Lost Planet does have it's problems. My main gripe at the mo is with picking up weapons with mechs, it should be mapped to any other button rather than B. Stand over a weapon, press B, get knocked away slightly and you end up jumping out the mech instead. Anyone trying to kill the mission4 boss on extreme will feel that pain quite a few times.

Ha! I'm still trying to do him on normal! That is if i play single player tonight, NEVEC suits haunt my thoughts...

Its a tricky one that as they are very different games (making it unfair to pit them up against each other) that have so much in common.

The movement in both games is amazing, levels designed with paths in mind to get you from A to B while using each games unique system as an advantage against your enemy (cover and grapple). LP has the added advantage of flight (via the mechs) but Gears has the amazing Rodeo Run. LP is all about being out in the thick of the action, rolling and jumping to survive. Gears is concerned with staying hidden behind chunks of concrete. Can't decided which method I like better, they are both great.

Coop is an amazing addition to Gears and so well implemented. The Deathmatch stuff is very intimate and maps are nice. LP goes in the other direction with huge areas able to handle both close up combat and end to end Mech kick-offs, plus the post capture gives the games more variety. Tough call when you add in LPs unlockable characters and outfits.

                            Both stories are utter ****e.

                            Hmmm, not sure.

As a package Gears is the 'winner'. It seems more polished.

As a single player experience Gears takes it, online play I've had more fun with LP. Probably end up playing more multiplayer with LP due to the number of weapons, scale of arenas and the grapple hook.

I will defo be following the Gears releases, I'm not waiting for LP2 with the same anticipation.

i prefer gears but i love lost planet's vast open spaces... i prefer the tight gameplay of gears but the sheer size of some of the lost planets enemies is amazing every single time.
