Yeah, Gun Valkyrie is a very difficult game. The control system is unique/weird, and takes a good while to master. It's also more about flying than Lost Planet is.

The last boss is also so difficult it makes Lost Planet look like a walk in the park. Great game though, SEGA on top form and their most hardcore. Hopefully it will work in backcompat someday.

If you go up with the mech before you hit the checkpoint, you always start with it...At least it did when I did that level.

I've been through that level a fair few times now too every time it's started in that mech after I've died.

Is this a difficulty specific thing?
Same with me, I always restart with the jumper. It may be that when i got out the roof of the hanger i wen't completely the wrong way and came across the wasp battle area from the right and slid dow the edges of the slope, so coming down to it rather than up to it...

        nevec base infiltration boss spoilerzzzz

the clown looking boss in the spider mech was a bit easy once i figured out that if you sit sort of mid range he'll just use his lasers. i stood behind one of the raised platforms between me and his guns. his laser is on the right of the mech meaning he couldn't hit me. so i stood on foot with a mech shotgun (held on wayne's right remember, making it far too easy to avoid getting shot whilst laying the smack down) and totally ripped him a new one. pussy.

Up to mission5 boss on extreme. The wasp was a bastard. Now that he's out the way I only fear the mission 9 boss.

That's pretty much how I did the mission2 boss on extreme Crisp, the old 'hide their guns behind view' trick that worked so well in Perfect Dark 64. Took me two attempts.

I cant understand the hate for this game.

Im currently up to level 8 and i'm loving every moment of it.

I know it can be frustrating when you keep getting hit, and cant get up, but for me its part of the enjoyment.

For example - The level where you infiltrate the NEVEC base, where you cross the snow and there are loads of those big creatures that look a bit like praying mantis.

I was in the middle of about 5 of them and they were all attacking and I thought i was a gonna!

I managed to slip between the legs of one of them and unleashed a can of whupass on all 5 of those mofo's.

One of my best gaming moments EVER!

Early GOTY contender for me - no doubt.

Even on extreme, one full-on nuke won't kill you in one hit like most other games. You're still able to crawl to your feet and dive for it. Being decked, or getting in/out of a mech actually gives you invincibility frames which have come in handy once or twice.

I hate to piss on people's gingerbread men but the Mission3 boss was easy yet again, without a sticking glitch. Even on extreme there are two mechs to waste and about 24 rockets.

Aye those old invincible frames are great, especially in the boss fights... when you start a battle but are 10 ft from that mech Wayne spotted at the end of the cut scene.

I might mess about with things tonight and see what other invincible animations the wee man has... Capcom love them

That is one of the most bizarre comments I've ever read on a forum!

Do you enjoy things like temporary traffic lights at roadworks, with no-one actually working on them?

Nah, I see where he's coming from. It's quite perverse.

Imagine if Wayne was on MvC2, he'd come on to assist and then about 5 of the Goron type Akrid would run over both him and the enemy for the actual damage. The game is about getting beat up, and then escaping from those situations with basic human evasion, with a little help from the grapple hook (and on extreme scraping back the T-ENG by dealing out some ass-kicking in return). It looks ace when you're diving out of massive danger with basic means, it's really impressive for folks just starting the game which is why I'm eager to get some vids made this weekend. For people that don't play games it's like watching a hollywood blockbuster.

I don't know if its a difficulty thing (I'm pussy and playing on Normal) but I've not had any experience of getting hit and not be able to get away yet. When I get smacked by a rocket or two I just initiate the mad rolling evade sequence that allows me to break the **** out of dodge...

Yep. Rolling always works, unless you roll directly into more danger. Wait until you hit the 1st boss on extreme man, that's all about taking a beating and being forced to enjoy it for an hour or so.

Good god, if Wayne could buss some air time when fighitng the Akrid and maybe the Mechs that would be great. Run up a wall and then flip over them Dante style.

The funny thing about Wayne is he is almost immune to splash damage so if even though his roll is relatively short it gets you away from the immediate danger if used correctly. Its total system baby... get the routines down and you be dancing round any enemy

Playing DMC3 for all those hours really has put me in the right mind set for these kind of games. It is never the controls that are the problem, it is your use of them that causes you to look stupid.

                              Who's manz?

You two leave all that talk for a DMC thread. We'll have no misuse of the letter z in this thread thank you very much.

People who seem surprised by the challenging bosses and unfamiliar with certain Capcom signatures (like invisibility frames and animation cancels).

Or were you taking objection to my use of the word 'manz'

I see Hard not to discuss other Capcom games in a Capcom game's first play thread though innit? (Sorry I mean 'isn't it'?)
