    Had a few quick cracks on this last night. Really missing the more advanced Dojo that Evo had, I had alot of love for that, I'm an average VF player at best, but that was an excellent tool for learning the nuances of the game.

    That aside, this game is fantastic. Busy getting my arse handed to me, which is exactly as I expected having not played VF for ages There's very few beat-em-ups I can actually remember the moves for between iterations, so I'll be starting from scratch. Still trying to decide which character to focus on, will likely end up using Sarah again.

    Need a stick but I'll be damned if I'm buying the fugly VF one, stickers can f off. If I'm gonna pay ?40 they could at least put some decent artwork on it

      Regarding the quest mode, the arcades etc... Are the amount of opponents infinite? How do you get the achievements for beating every opponent at them?

        If I remember rightly from the PS3 version, there is a list somewhere in the game of all the opponents in each arcade. I think some of them will only appear once your ranking goes.

          There's a tournament with prize money.

            No the quest isnt infinite m8 theirs so many. Its a weird system gave up working out as once you hit a certain ranking you then get stuck to that tier for rest of the game for your uber name ranking. Not make sense I know

            Bascially made up names here..

            you start out as gimp you then beat aload of people no losses and move up to bringout the gimp ranking (f you did bad you would be called gimps sleeping average gimps got a ball in his gob) and fight for 3tiers of name of ps,xbox,wii. If you do average you get PS, do amazing xbox, crap you get ranked wii then it moves onto next tier names and fights. So from starting out to the end of the game you can have a massive differece of your end ranking.

              Found some settings criteria for Quest

              Path A (highest) : >80%
              Path B (mid): 70-79%
              Path C (low): 69% and below

              You can only fight some of the highest rankings in quest mode if you have the similar ranking

              Master =Warrior
              Warrior =Veteran
              Veteran =Gladiator
              Gladiator =Vindicator
              Vindicator =Avenger
              Avenger =Vanquisher
              Vanquisher =Conqueror

              Was some of em (before that its dans) JPN names diferent from USA etc..

                From wikipedia

                " * 10th Kyu to 1st Kyu
                * 1st Dan to 10th Dan

                After the Dan ranks, a character's title is dependent on winning percentage.

                * If a character's winning percentage is less than 70 percent they will obtain the following ranks:

                Master -> Defender -> Enforcer -> Sentinel -> Protector -> Guardian -> Paladin -> Liberator

                * If a character's winning percentage is between 70 and 80 percent they will obtain the following ranks:

                Master -> Hunter -> Raider -> Barbarian -> Assassin -> Slayer -> Berserker -> Destroyer

                * If a character's winning percentage is above 80 percent they will obtain these ranks:

                Master -> Warrior -> Veteran -> Gladiator -> Vindicator -> Avenger -> Vanquisher -> Conqueror

                This implementation has led to some player's confusion as to what is the highest rank. Upon obtaining "Conqueror" players have not gone through the other two ranking trees, and so, believe that other ranks exist above them. A character's winning percentage can and does change over time. This can lead to crossing from one rank tree to another (i.e. an "Enforcer" can rank up to "Barbarian" and then up or down to "Vindicator" or "Protector"). The only time a rank tree is final is when a character obtains their 28th rank, "Liberator", "Destroyer", or "Conqueror". It is impossible to change ranks once a character obtains their final rank, the experience bar stops moving, even when fighting other 28th rank opponents. It also appears to be impossible to rank down from this level, locking a character into their final title."

                Thats from REVB/PS3 version so they where on about improving it so you might be able to alter at end now

                  From what I gather, if you go to an arcade, there are three fighters (obviously).

                  Apparently if they have a star next to their name, you've beaten them.

                  Also, (again apparently) there are roughly 100 fighters per arcade. So you could pick one of the three without a star, fight, win, exit.

                  It'd take AGES though either way to get those achievements.

                  One of the secret ones has been uncovered though, spoiler below.

                  Challengers' Cup
                  Placed in the official Challengers' Cup tournament (15G)

                        Some of the secret achievements had better be online achievements. It would be very disappointing to find out every achievement in the game is offline only. As good as quest mode is, once you've started playing online it's hard to go back. So forcing you to play offline for achievements, money and clothing items is a spectacularly poor decision.

                          Will be picking this up in the next few days, can't wait to see how it plays.

                            Being caning this tonight since I got home. It is very enjoyable to play, very pretty and I enjoy the Quest mode in the game as well.

                            I'm in 2 minds of whether to get online or not. I'm selling my 360 at the end of November for money for my holiday but may keep my hands on VF5 as incentive to buy a 360 again when I come back or sometime shortly after. I understand that you need X-Box LIVE Gold to be able to play others online? I've also heard that you can pay monthly using a debit card. Yey or ney?

                            Either way, VF5 is quality and I hope people realise and pick it up off the shelves. It was even more satisfying that after trading some other things in today I got it from GAME for ?6.00!

                            Beautiful!

                              It tons of fun offline, but playing online against real players just takes the experience to another level. Yes, you need Live Gold but the first month is free for all new members. Which seems ideal for you, since you're leaving in a month anyway. Unless of course you were a member before but cancelled it and now want to resubscribe. Even then you could use your debit card for a one month subscription (£5) then cancel it.

                              For sure I would go for it.

                                Dude selling your 360 to go on holiday is not a good idea.

                                Holiday is not better than Virtua Fighter!
