^ It was like that for me at the start, but now I can't play one without experiencing lag. Especially when you have to pull of hard moves; it can't be done even if you can't see the lag visualy.

Unless this is runnin off dedicated servers - there is always going to be lag sometimes you get decent matches but this is still far from the responsiveness you get when playing someone in versus.
As for not being able to switch player without quiting = the same as ic card - 1st this ain't no arcade 2nd I can't see anywhere to plug my ic card into my 360. ic cards solved the problem of storing player data at arcades - my 360 has large hard drive. Switching players should be a no brainer Sega

Although I'm rather new to VF5, and not very good at fighting games, I've been really enjoying this. The arcade mode on the default setting was rather tough for me, but I managed to go through all but one of the characters on it. For El Blaze, I gave in and stuck it on the easiest settings.
The Quest Mode is great fun, and started off a lot easier. Once I got past the dan ratings, it did start to toughen up. Unfortunately, I lost my save for it, and I haven't really been that bothered to get back in to it. I want to, but I think I'll wait until after I've gone through one or two other games first.

Wow after months and rebuying this on 360 with stick for christmas I finally was well enough to start playing this todayForgotten everything even what the quest mode was like on PS3 with stupid memory and tried to do an hour in dojo after arcade with a few characters and learning stuff but my head started to pound (too much information!) so gave up started with just my gut feeling of Pai (I know I used to play as Jacky even though I dont remember owt but couldnt get into him) and spent 5half hours on the trot in Quest mode. Just mashed alot at first then started to try some moves and repatition won out. In the end I was thinking how the chuff did I know how to do that as it became abit of second nature again.
I aint good but Im having fun as a noob again! Won 50odd matches on the trot against CPU (I know its easy it wasnt even guarding at me till I came up against 4th Dan I think Im on 2nd) but I find it better to do this in Quest on normal to learn some combos then will start afresh when I have beaten it on Hard to Expert with new same character creation.
Its great anyway and thank god I can finally play it!
Does anyone know if the online ranked matches affect your offline matches for stats on Quest (ie later on for names past 10th dan?) just if so I will keep offline and online seperate.

2 days later and Im understanding it now (even done my own combo varient off vf.com which I will probably never do online). Played loads and done 151 matches (147 wins losses) and up to I think 7th Dan. Not having any trouble until I come across 9th dans then its random (their either average or go Dural mental at me). Weird one was a 9th Dan El Blaze he challenged me 4 times on the trot and I nuked his arse 3 times last time it seemed like he had learnt what to do against me and did an excellent on first round against me then proceeded to throw me till death.
Love it and love me Milky Pai, meat Pai lady

Finding this a bit of a mixed bag at the moment. All the environments are really impressive -classic colourful Sega- but apart from the shaolin monk (lei something) the character design and moves look a bit bland.
Maybe it’s because I’m used to the flashy stuff in Street Fighter and Tekken but knocking off a quarter health with a light slap to the back just seems wrong. Also what’s with the jumping in this game? I feel like I’m floating on a cushion of air every time I take off.
Definitely going to play more as it’s winning me over everytime I play but imo it looks to have way more depth than a fighting game needs.Last edited by Kit; 25-10-2008, 12:16.

This game is lacking something for me, and I don't know exactly what. I think I found VF4 more impressive when it hit consoles and this one isn't big of an improvement. Especially after owning the 360 version, the Ps3 version feels useless to own. No online, quite crappy AI (compared to VF4). I felt useless spending hours beating simulated gamers in Quest while I could load up T5 and recently SCIV online. Probably spoilt by online play.
I have never really touched this disc again. Instead, I've spent loads of hours in Tekken 5 DR. I thought I'd never said it, but I call that one to be way superior. And more fun.
