seems it's just a rumour. i can't see why it would take them so long to port the engine to the 360. i have it on my PC and finished the first 2 or 3 missions but i just can't get into KB&M control anymore. it's a shame that such an outstanding FPS wont make to a wider audience.

It wouldn't surprise me if they released both Clear Sky and the original on 360. I can't see 360 owners paying 40 quid for just Stalker on its own.

I have hard time believing they would port STALKER to consoles. Both interface, and the fact that the code isn't really that well optimized would make porting both painful, and expensive.

Yeah this is true. I know that Empire had a deal with a console port of this game but I guess it just got sacked off in the end.

          Shame, GSC deserve more money

I've got a question for those who've played both Stalker and Clear Sky - is there any difference in system requirements between the two? In real terms I mean. I'm not looking to run it in DirectX 10 or anything. I'm looking to get a PC to play this on and just want to make sure I can play Clear Sky as well.

Get yourself Pinnacle Game Profiler and you'll be able to use your 360 pad with any PC game (you'll need the crossfire wireless dongle unless you've got a wired 360 pad though). Allows you to map any PC control to any axis or button on the pad. Works really well and I've played quite a bit of stalker this way.

Got really stuck at a section where I have to raid a military camp though. Too many enemies and not enough ammo. I still don't have a sniper rifle either, anyone got any tips about where to get one?

Never mind Pinnacle, it's garbage. There's a driver out there that'll allow you to connect up your sixaxis pad and benefit from all buttons and sticks without having to faff.

Slightly pointless without saying what this driver is.....

Edit - Pinacle is not garbage. I use it all the time and find it great for most games. Doesn't work well with Far Cry though.

I tried playing this recently and just couldnt get into it at all.

All the guns avalible at the start of the game have completely rubbish accuracy and you can never seem to hit anything, yet when bad guys shoot at you with them they hit you all the time and you die repeatedly becuase of this, so I just didnt find it very fun.

Also the inventory controls are very fiddley to use, escpecialy during a fire fight.

Did you patch it as it was a terrible release game what got much improved with the patches?

I have the updates, its just just an incredabley poorly balanced game in general from what i can see.

Ditto. Bought this recently from HMV for £7, and struggled to sell it on Ebay. Didn't get this at all. I really tried as well.

I played this for the first time, for about an hour or so last night, and I'm stuck already

I did the very first mission you're given after you wake up in the Trader's office, and also did a couple of side-quests on the way. Now I'm on the second 'special' mission from the Trader, where first of all you need to cross the railroad embankment.

This is where I'm stuck as the tunnel you're directed to by the PDA is home to some kind of electrical anomaly and I can't seem to get through it. There's a bridge a little further up the line by what looks like an old mill, but the army have set up a road block underneath. I did manage to sneak past them once but I forgot to quicksave and got killed by a pack of wild dogs shortly after.

Add to that, the entire area along the embankment is infested with radioactive areas and mutants I'm sure I'll work it out soon.

The electrical anomalies in that tunnel do despawn if you watch them (after about 30 secs), thus you can work your way through the tunnel gradually. The easiest way though is to go back to the main road where the blockade is. Stay well away from the people guarding it, and just go on the grass verge on the right... stick to the far right hand side while sprinting up the hill and over the top, and you'll be past the section very quickly.
