Guitar Hero II (Xbox 360)

Played 10 minutes whilst everyone was asleep...interesting and extremely fun but didn't feel like guitar playing does if you know what I mean.

My mistake may have been startin on easy, since I cocked up a lot because I'm playing the notes that aren't being asked to play if you get what I mean, maybe on normal/hard I'd be more suited.

Yep like I said mate hit it at hard level if you know how to play - I was going through medium after bashing some of hard last night and was hitting notes that were no longer there - Once you go HARD you never go back

It's wierd, I end up laughing like a madman cos I'm hitting notes that are there in the music but the game doesn't want you to play, and because I'm doing that I miss the notes it DOES want me to play.

It's certainly not aimed at people with a natural guitar playing talent if you know what I mean, but it is superb fun...got AWESOME picture of my nipper with the guitar too! I was a little suprised at how small the guitar was in all honesty.

There's also another port for an effects pedal.

What? Eh? How does that work? Is it basically an extra audio out? Does it let you plug it into a guitar amp or something? I'm dead confused.

Easy mode is there so you can get your cack-handed relatives playing. Anybody posting on this site shouldn't even CONSIDER playing on easy (except to get the achievements).

Anyway, game GOT!

I got all excited like the schoolgirl I am and bought it in the first place I went (Game), when I could have walked 10 seconds further to HMV to get it ?5 cheaper. :-/

Now I just need to break out of work and get the thing home.
Then: 72 hours of tunnel vision and chronic wrist pain!

I'd imagine the same as a normal effects pedal, put your foot on the pedal at different moments and it'll change the sound.

Oh yeah the pain - I was feeling it last night !

The strap is longer I found so the guitar can sit a bit lower if you're tall like me !!!

I'll need to check for the port I never noticed it !

The guitar itself apart from the guide button is SO much better than the PS2 ones - purely because the buttons are so much better and bunched tighter together - Made a really big difference for me !

All games should come in a box like that

It's probably for the Rock Band game they've just announced.

I never get tunnel vision playing GH, rather when I stop everything I look at seems to be moving 'up'. It's very odd. I actually thought it was just me until Nijo said he got it too

Look forward to picking this up now, can't believe I want a game I've already played to death so much!

Bah, humbug. I was hoping you could route the guitar audio through some actual guitar pedals into an actual amp.
Probably impossible to do with the 360's controller setup, but y'know. Would be fun.

Went to the shop and handed ever £70, felt a bit ripped off but it's guitar hero and I wanted it now. Playing though again is great but no online multiplayer is definately a missed opportunity I mean even if you just saw the other persons score while you were playing it would work without the problem of lag.

That's true Myth they coulda done something like some of the XBLA games where you see the other persons score - When you play somebody 2 player on PS2 that's all you look at anyway !!!

Hmm, being new to the series this might be a stupid question but when the guitar is strapped around me, why is the d-pad upside down? IE : Down = up, up = down? Not a problem after I realised the strummer thing was also up and down but a bit wierd nonetheless.

Yeah t'is strange as left/right are the right way round ! The PS2 ones didn't have a d-pad so nothing to compare to !!!

You can use the strum bar though !
