I'd say the handling model is tweaked quite a lot, it's definitely more sim than before as you can no longer get away with stuff you use to be able to in Forza 1, there's a degree more control with the pad to compensate.
The decal stuff has been made a lot easier to do, which is good. Complex designs are definitely going to be easier to put together.
Ultimately I think that playing Forza 1 all week whilst I was on holiday was a mistake, because they are so similar it seems like I've been playing this, and so going back to earlier, slower and easier races ( ie, a step back ).
Still, it plays very well, great racer, but evolution rather than revolution.

Unlucky.I've had a break for about a month from Forza1 deliberately, so this is seeming fresher.
I'm useless with art, so decals is going to be painful for me, due to lack of ideas mainly. Some of the stuff up for auction is amazing. No idea how long it must have taken these people.
Please can everyone start doing the time trials so we can compare? This so needs clans.
I did the Top Secret Supra TT yesterday (almost last on the list) and it's just lunatic. When the turbo kicks in the back steps out unless you are either a) in 5th gear or b) in an exact straight line in 4th and not quite on full throttle. The top lap is 10 seconds quicker than me....

What's everyone's upgrade tactics? Do you try and keep all the cars within class so you can use them online or do you turn them into uncontrollable monsters within 20 mins of getting them?
I'm trying to keep them within class so that I've got a nice collection to choose from during online racing and don't have to use the same car all the time (like the CRX in Forza1).

I try to keep all the cars in class or in the class above. I don't see the point of having a garage full of S-Class cars - most of which are undrivable.
I have been upgrading some cars a bit more than I normally would at the moment though, just so I can compete in races.
Has anyone driven the E-Type Jag yet? The back end is just crazy, it oversteers almost immediately (after some engine upgrades anyway) - I used roll bar settings and a big rear wing to sort it. It's drivable now but still a bit slidy!
I love that about the game though - if you know a bit about car setup, you can always sort out these issues.

To change gear ratios, just use the final drive setting. As you tweak the bar upwards, you'll see the lines move down on the graph, showing that you're getting a lower top speed, this will equal better acceleration. Obviously reverse this if you want more top end speed.
As far as balance goes (oversteer vs understeer) anti-role bars and camber settings will influence this most (and downforce on a racing car).
1. Anti-role - This balances the car by transfering weight around the car as you corner. The more weight at one end of the car - the more grip. So, if your car oversteers as in the case of my jag, soften the rear bars, and stiffen the front - this will move weight to the rear, and cause the rear to stick more.
2. Camber - negative camber (top of the wheels closer than the bottom) gives more grip at the expense of greater tire wear and less straight line stability. You should always have more negative camber on the front wheels - I would suggest setting of -2 degrees on the front wheels, and -1.2 ish on the rears to start. You can change these settings to balance the car, but I think changing the anti role bars generally gives better results.
If your suffering from understeer on front wheel drive cars, or oversteer on rear wheel drive cars under power out of a corner - try installing a limited slip diff - this will give more grip in both cases.
Hope this helps, just ask if you need any more help.

Don't forget some stickier tyres as first port of call for grip. The standard ones are rarely good enough for the track and since it's just track in this game....

Thanks both. Think I'll have to spend more time tweaking settings and less in the paint editor until I get to grips with it. Also need to look at adjusting the wheel/pedal settings as having trouble getting the braking right as I keep locking up. I've not looked yet (and at work at mo), but is it possible to reduce the sensitivity of the brake pedal or is that something that I need to adjust on a car-by-car basis?

You can also adjust the braking force for each car (with the right brake upgrade), so if a specific car is locking up very easily, you could lower this setting. I used this to increase the braking power for P1 cars in the first game, as I always found the brakes a bit too 'long'.

All the controls are tuneable in the options menu iirc.
With the brakes, if you bang them on, you'll lock up. You should be able to press it half way quickly and then (relatively) gradually squeeze it harder up to the turn in point - in real life, as you slow down, the suspension has an easier time dealing with bumps on the road; no idea if this is built into the game engine but it seems to work for me.

I might not need to adjust the pedal, maybe just practice more in Free Run with the higher classes. Half the problem is that I've just changed from using auto gears and a controller to manual gears and the wheel. Bit of a change, but I'm sure with some practice things will improve. I tried a wheel with GT4 a few months back and couldn't get to grips with it, but really enjoying it with this - love the fact that you feel the wheel go 'light' when starting to lose grip on a corner
