There's friendly fire in general, yes. But the gust magic doesn't hit friendlies.

I got money taken off for hitting a teammate.

I can't wait for this and mines in the post!

If you had to compare it to any other shooter out there, what would it be? Regardless of the Halo matchmaking qualities, I'm hoping this feels differently. If it doesn't seem like any other game how about what combo of games it feels like?

Me and melenko have just joined a party together, and joined a public match.

Honestly, it feels like Halo crossed with System Shock 2, crossed with Counter-Strike.

The whole tech / magic side of it really brings back how that game felt.

So far, the only bad thing i've got to say about this game is that it takes a while to initially find a match.

But as far as game feel goes? It's absolutely brilliant.

Screw the naysayers, you need this game.

how does it control? are the buttons mapped ok and is the aiming spot on with the analogue sticks?

wasn't going to bother with this one this week - forza2 and blue dragon were both scheduled for weekend gaming sessions, but the impressions upto now have tempted me beyond belief (i am gutted that my local indie is shutting in a couple of mins)

Buttons are mapped all ok. Absolutely no problems with them at all, and are infact very simple.

RB, LB, and LT are all assignable to whatever techs / magic you like.

A is jump, B brings up a list of your techs/magic to assign to the shoulder buttons.

Clicking in right thumbstick = zoom, clicking in left = crouch.

Aiming is very, very good, with just the right amount of auto-aim to keep you on target. No aiming difficulties for me at all.

                Blimey, this sounds surprisingly good.

What modes does it have, is it just CTF and deathmatch?

I just picked this up today and I have only played a few training missions so far but I can see this being a lot of fun, especially multiplayer. The powers/abilities really do add an extra dimension to the gameplay and graphically it doesn't look too shabb either, the style suits the game. Not got deep into it yet but I am liking so far.

                    3 i've played so far:

CTF, Deathmatch, and Raid, which is basically attack and defend. One person defends the artifact, while the other team has to try and get in, take it, and deliver it back to their base.

I know what you mean Pete. I have to stop reading First Play threads - too tempting! Will try and hold out for the demo though...

And this is where races/power come into it. A bunch of trolls with heavy weapons defending is not a pleasant site.

                              But the dwarfs sap essence.

Put a dwarf in smoke so they're not easily seen, and stick it right in the middle of the trolls - It takes away their high defense. Then get someone with a rocket launcher or minigun to take all 3 of them out.

Exactly what I did last game.

The is 'Games For Windows LiVE' as well. Be interesting to see how Xbox LiVE and PC cross server holds up.
