Liking this a lot - great sense of speed, controls well, looks lovely...plus it looks like it has tonnes of stages to complete. The career mode is massive, done about 6 events and 2% in. Done one rally championship but loads more to do also.

        Great stuff.

Graphics look wonderful when racing which is the main thing, however you can spot some of the shortcuts they've taken during the replays. At times it looks real, but it isn't quite there.

I took a corner through a farm gate - a standard corner in the series - however rather than getting stuck on the gate post like I usually do, I drove right through it blowing out my windscreen at the same time Awesome! Made a horrible crunching sound and I had to do the rest of the rally with a really messed up car. Even during the repair centres I couldn't quite get the same again.

Am I the only one who dislikes Dirt?

The car handling is overly simplistic and the super breaks ruin the little there is to ruin. There isn't a lot of difference between the different road surfaces. The graphics look lovely at places but the over the top HDR effects look pretty horrible. There are only 6 rally countries. There is no rain. There are no night or dawn/evening races. There are no snow races. The framerate has problems when other cars are in view. Car damage is a nice effect but the rest of the physics aren't that special.

I could go on. I have completed the career mode and driven most of the rallies.

Rallisport 2 was and still is miles ahead of this dirt.

I am really enjoying DIRT. I'll be the first to admit that outside of the Burnout series my skills at driving games are severely lacking! I really couldn't get on with the Forza 2 demo, learning to control the car much too 'realistic' for me to get good at after a 20 min playabout. DIRT seemed to click with me much more quickly so I picked it up.

The more arcadey simple nature of the game makes this a winner for me. It looks great and plays really well too imho. Pretty good buy for £30.

Believe so (see link above I posted yesterday), but not 100% confirmed as far as I know.

Pete - yes career mode is massive, about 80 races to wade through.

If your after an arcadey racer this should suit you down to the ground.

Colin spoke in the menus, his co driver as you where racing, anyway moving on.

Online is quite a suprise in dirt.

                    You join a room.
Vote on which track to race from 7 ,each track has one car tied to it so everyone is on a level field. The 7 tracks mix up after each round.

Then you race on your own but it is quite tense as you see your name going up and down the ranks as you race.

Was first for about a minute in a subaru then ballzed up on a corner ,took major air 1st to 17 in a matter of seconds.Pulled back a couple of places to finish 12th.I quite like it there is no chat in the lobby which is a minus.

I managed to do one rally on this last night then I darted onto xbox live entered a lobby with 19 people (making up 20) and was addicted to it for at least 2 hours straight!!
Very impressed by it, you know rally wouldnt really work with an online vs mode, this LIVE time attack though is very suprising.
As been said before you can see your name dart from 1st to 3rd to 1st again, also nice as you dont have to mess around with twats taking you out on corners and bad mouthing you, it's purly upto you to get 1st place.
Am really enjoying this so far, glad I made the decission to get this instead of forza, arcade style is what I do best.

Mine must be a faulty copy as my name went from 1st ,3rd NEVER back to 1st again.

Nah, as it's because the time are in real time when you race against someone online.
You are racing against their best time so if you are 1st in 2 sections then crash, your name will shoot down to 20th on the grid you will then have to race your arse off to get yourself back onto that Top 5 - Top 10 grid.
All depends on how good the people are that you are racing against, your name can climb.

I have a codemasters account for LOTRO, so will see what I can pull out of it. Not sure if the same account will work mind...

I couldn't get the code to work last night, it's unlocks nothing you can't already unlock in the game, apparently it just makes 4 vehicles immediately available in all modes except Career.
