Regarding brakes, has anyone else got the Citroen C4 Concept yet ? stops quicker than a F1 car that one.

Still really enjoying this though, harmless fun and 'til someone else releases a Rally-type game on the 360 it's the best there is

Not yet, only spent a few hours on it so far.
I wonder if it was those brakes which stopped his career...boom boom!

      Quick question:
Is there any rain, snow etc later on?

Shame really. It's not essential but it would have been nice.

Ok very strange. The tearing was doing my head in so i borrowed a VGA cable off a mate to test it out, and you guys were right there is no tearing that i can notice over VGA where as when i use the normal HD cable it is bloody awful. Looks like im gonna need a VGA cable to keep playing this, as i said tearing doesnt normally bother me but its just so bad on this game when using normal HD cable.

I didn't complete the whole career mode. Just went to the top + some extra races. But didn't find any. Neither did I find any proper dawn/dusk or night time races.

Fired this up yesterday and ended up blasting through 2 tiers and a few online races - fantastic stuff.

It's very arcadey - The handling seems different from the demo I dunno if that's just me or wheel/pad default settings being tweaked from the demo - But I like what they've done

The online works well - it's just like playing offline but with dynamic time updates for the other drivers - I thought it'd only update when you hit a checkpoint but it seems more frequent than that - Very exciting when you're going hell for leather and catching up, depressing when you clip a tree and lose it then notice your position has gone from 3rd to double figures

                Well chuffed

I couldn't put it better myself, this really is "one more race and that's it!" feel to it.

Although I've hit a bug with mine - I think - I've accumulated well over 100 miles in Career now, but the achievement hasn't unlocked.

The online portion works incredibly well too, it's gratifying to see yourself jump 3 or 4 places when you take a hairpin turning with ease... then hit a tree and find yourself drop down the pecking order.

^^ I have done 103 miles so far and haven't got it either, but I have done the GB rally on its own so hat may be the reason that it hasn't unlocked as it has to be over 100 miles in career mode

I was going to say you both sure you have done 100 miles just in career mode? (probably equates to about 25-30 career events), I got the achievement fine.

It is a bit of a pain it doesn't break-down exactly where you've done the miles.

I've done 106 miles so far, I'm near-enough done on the 3rd Tier as well. There must be some sort of specific requirement for it to unlock perhaps?

Prehaps you do need to do a couple more career races, when you say 106 miles, you mean in the game in total I guess as there's no other way to see how far you've driven. Fairly sure mine unlocked on Tier 3, bet you're just a couple of miles short.

I hope so, I'm not sure if the mile total is career only, tbh. I've hardly touched Arcade Mode nor online, hopefully should unlock soon though.

Mile total is not career only Steve, it is total for the game. Rally stages are about 3 or 4 miles each, couple more career events and you'll be there

The 500 & 1000 career mile achievements are going to take some doing.

Just starting Tier 5 now ....

So I've heard on achieve360points there's an event on Tier 10, where the hill is 12 miles long! Someone actually sat there for 7 hours doing that for 25 points!

I think the Achievements may be a wee bit bugged, as I beat a race on Tier 2 and got awarded one of the Veteran Achievements (I am about an hour into the game).

Which seems unlikely, unless I genuinely have raced all the races of that particular type by the end of Tier 2...

                                My feelings on the game?

Looks nice enough, but plays more like a Rallisport 2 clone than a Colin McRae game. The core rallies are as fun as ever, and when everything comes together it's a gorgeous, breathless ride. It can for split seconds look photo-real, and the adrenaline flows as trees flash by ether side of the car as you barrel through the Australian outback at 90mph....

But just as easily things can fall apart - the over the top bloom/HDR lighting, the awful American voiceovers (e.g. Co-driver: "OK, smooth and steady on this one, I'm smooth and you're steady") and ridiculous brakes. If you're doing 120 mph, these brakes will stop you in about 5ft. In any car. Any surface... feels very weird after Forza. The point to point races are great, but the track races are awful: juddery, poor AI, wonky difficulty levels, and crappy handling. You can avoid them, or play them at an easy difficulty level just to get past, but in my opinion, I don't think they should have been there. I'd have taken weather FX and some of the niggles ironed out first.

Overall, it's good and fun. But I think a bit more time in development would've benefited it, and I think the 360 is still waiting for a hardcore rally sim.
