Just been on it for the first time since the launch scramble and I had two large scale games on it and came almost top twice.

I've checked my rankings now to see how much more I needed to do to advance and I see this:
Recruit
Airman - 24/09/07
Airman 1st Class - 24/09/07
Sergeant - 24/09/07
Chief Sergeant - 24/09/07
Wingman - 24/09/07
Wing Leader - 24/09/07
Sergeant Major - 24/09/07
Command Sergeant - 24/09/07

Fair enough, I was in the top 2 of the rankings in each game but what the hell is going on?

I also have a Win/Loss ratio of...1.0!

Exactly the same thing happened to me. I just assumed you could fast-track the points system by getting certain awards.

I'm upto Command Sergeant today as well, jumped up about 3 ranks without doing anything!
It happened to me about 2 weeks ago when I jumped from Recruit to Chief Sergeant (when I shouldn't have), and then again a few days ago by a couple of ranks and now this!
I want to be ranked correctly though, which I think is Airman, as I don't want to get blocked from games because of my over-inflated rank.

If they do reset the ranks I hope it doesn't affect my points, badges and ribbons.

Yeah, that's another of the problems. I think I'm Airman 1st Class at the moment - I've never been promoted unnecessarily, but I have played more time without a 'working' ranking system than with.

Dylan Jobe asked on the official forum whether people would accept a stats reset to fix this issue (Which is probably by far the easiest way to do so) but I'm sure you can imagine what the consensus was.

In fact, even some people that had been artificially promoted didn't think they should lose their rank.

I had some reservations about this game when it was being discussed in the news forum, even durign the beta. I decided wait out for this thread, and it doesn't look like there's a one of you who isn't enjoying it. I'll have to stump up the cash, I think.

Anyone having trouble with this since the PS2 system update? I applied it this afternoon and then could no longer see any servers. I've managed to get on with it early evening but it's crashed on every game, once during the game and twice at the score section at the end of the game.

It's somewhat annoying and was working fine before today.

It seems that the Blu-ray version allows you to temporarily store copies of the game on other PS3s for LAN play!

I just picked up a copy of this secondhand from ezee ryder - although I don't have anyone to LAN play with at present, I thought I'd have a furtle around & see how you set it up. Setting up a local server was easy enough, but I couldn't find any options for "install as LAN client" or anything like that to allow these "demo copies" to be installed on other PS3s. I do seem to be able to set up a local server, start playing and eject the disk. I assume that I can then give the disk to my mate so that he can also play the game on the LAN against me. Presumably this is what the developer means by "install demo copies"? That works well enough, but with a gigabit LAN it just seems a bit cumbersome to have to sneakernet the disk to 20 other machines before everyone can play.

Mind you, I can't find any options for split-screen play, either, so maybe all these options are hidden until you have more than one controller connected to your PS3, or it detects other PS3s on the LAN.

Anyway, I'm loving this game - seems to me to have the same charm as the original Unreal Tournament. In a few years time when we can pick up used PS3s & 1080p LCDs for ?20 on eBay the LAN option is sure to give plenty of replay value.

Picked this up today. Geez it looks real good and plays really well although i have no idea whats going on or how to control anything, it wouldn't hurt to have a tutorial level or something would it.

Nice presentation on it, it looks like a PC game unlike those poor battlefield conversions. Hopefully i will get some more time on this later if Burnout Paradise lets me.

Play it off line for a bit on an empty map to get the hang then if the NTSC clan ever gets used jump in with us

Is anyone here still playing this? Never tried it, but I like what I'm hearing and haven't had the chance to get into a proper Battlefield-like game before.

Anyone recommend it as a way to break up CoD4 sessions?

Yeah just started with it really, its really good and going to get the expansions this week. Did anyone ever try the demo over LAN thing? we have 2 PS3 in the house at home and would love to give this a go.

I noticed it's available for a reduced price on the Japanese PSN.. so I'm considering it too. It's this or Echochrome... and the lack of an MG:O beta means I'm kind of craving some online action.

Oooo, how much is it on the Japanese PSN and are the servers still all the same? Have a UK and Japanese account, so could be tempted even more if there is a discount to be had...

Update - It apparently is in English, and is up for 2,800 Yen until the 30th April.
