    Aye that'll be it.
Going to pick this up today and I'm pretty sure the graphics won't be that bad judging by screenies I've seen. I really liked Halo, but not Halo2. For some reason I'm thinking I fancy Bungie's 5 mins 'o' fun today. The hype has done for me.

Yes, up to four-players for maximum fun-ness.

Finally after 3 years wait I got about this last night, and spent about 3 hours in complete of what I was seeing / playing !

I've currently done the first two levels in campaign on Heroic, well almost 2 as I think I'm certainly near the end of the second, and I've loved every minute of it so far. The presentation from the start is just off the chart, I loved the theme of the opening, really enjoying the cinematic (why people are moaning about these I don't know, there's nothing wrong with the voice acting, as before it is very Alien's esc. which is just perfect for the game) while being in owe of the new character models and the surroundings they were in.

Pushing off into the first level, which to me feels very much like the

first Halo level in the first game

, the gameplay was just as expected being very similar to 2 and the beta. The Halo gameplay mechanic is still the best in the FPS business to me, with the control allowing you to get into a real flow pulling off phenomenal series's of kills, headshots - jumping headshots - sticking grenades to grunts arses, all in all making you feel like Superman when you get your eye in The level looks great with really astounding draw distance at certain points. Really enjoyed the end of the level

going to another level when I found the downed dropship and got my combo of choice, BR - Sniper, and then took down all the Cov. at the base, sniping most from the cliff top, before moving in and clearing the rest out with the monstrous Brute Hammer.

Best opening level in any of the Halo games, but then I was never really a fan of the ship based openers !

Second changes the pace quite dramatically and is not quite as awesome as the first to me, but was still a great level, just more

          confined

          than I like.

From what I understand the game really kicks off from the 3rd mission onwards, and so I can't wait to get back amongst this tonight !

Only played one MP match (soz Rossco I did accept your invite but you'd already gone into matchmaking, and it was getting on a bit to wait), a Lone Wolf game where I placed a close 3rd. Lone Wolf as in the beta is so much better than it's equivalent ranked FFA in Halo 2, with the reduction in players to five making for much more balanced games, without so many cheap kills being grabbed by players. Played on Epitaph, which seemed like a good map, but I would say better suited for team rather than FFA games. My only disappointment was the brute hammer, which just seems over powered to me, probably because I was the one getting mashed by it. It just seems like a much easier/more definite kill than the sword, and while balanced a bit by the power meter, allows for an easy killing spree in a tightly fought game. I'll probs come to love it over time, but certainly did not last night.

Any way games everything I'd hoped for so far. I'm going to be gutted when the campaign is over, but I'm already looking forward to running through it again in Leg. with plenty of Co-op thrown in as well. One thing I would say, is that anyone that has played a reasonable amount of Halo 2 online, should not go into the campaign at anything less than Heroic, as you will otherwise just walk through the campaign with little challange !

The game is just sheer brilliance on all levels! Didnt really like the 2nd mission but first was excellent! (y). Played a bit of the 3rd mission and loving that Just a quick question about

Skulls... when you pick them up how long does it take for them to disappear or do you just pick it up and drop it?:S

              Folks,
              One peice of advice.

When you get this game, please please, let the intro play for half an hour before you start playing. The music is just out of this world. I hadn't even got into the game and the sheer environment/feeling around JUST the intro music is outstanding. More on the game later.

              Regards,
              Neil.

^ What Neil said, I've been leaving it on that for long periods when eating dinner to have that awesome O'Donnell score ring round my house.

                When's the OST out again?

Think it's confirmed as in the works, but not dated yet !

One question about the timing of the game

Am I right in presuming that the chief falls to the ground at the start of the game from the Forerunner ship that he leaves Delta Halo on, and that he tells the General at the end of the second that he's back to finish the fight from ? If so how did Key's daughter manage to get back to earth and set up a base before the chief managed to make landfall ? Would of presumed he be back on Earth long before her as he left both her and Johnson on Delta Halo taking his Forerunner express back to Earth

What sort of stats did people get on Seirra 117

                    Total Kills 141
                    Total Enemy Kills 141
                    Total Vehicle Kills 0
                    Deaths 2
                    Betray Coop 0
                    Betray Allies 0

                    Infantry 99
                    Specialists 26
                    Leader 15
                    Hero 1

Just interested to see how I compared. So many stats in this game now even before scoring Not sure those Deaths can be correct tbh !

For some reason it seems to take Bungie ages to get the OSTs out. They also don't seem to mind fleecing the fans as they split the Halo 2 OST onto 2 separate CD releases, with the first padded with a bunch of utterly atrocious bland 'rock' music which had nothing to do with the game.

When you complete it, keep watching until after the credits.

What credits? I got the "Thank You" message from Bungie then got dumped back to the main menu. It does say I can resume solo game from the main menu but then seems to sit drawing the Halo from the loading screen for ages. Are the credits after that maybe?

Why does this not autosave? I did two levels last night - it crashed, I lose all progress.
Now it is juddery. I believe my 360 is dying again

Yeah, I think the same thing happened to me, ascender, but it was early/late, so my memory might be hazy ... either way, it's criminal that the option to skip the (rather important) post-credits bit exists at all!

Just collected my CE box from Woolworths, or as I like to call it, the "bouncy disc" edition ... both pinballing around freely inside, the game disc quite badly scratched. Oh well, good thing I probably won't ever be trying to sell it on.

Had some good fun online last night, just playing the 4-player skirmish "battle training" stuff ... I almost won a couple of matches! (and for those of you who played alongside me a couple of nights ago, you'll know what an achievement that is for me). 24 and 23 kills I had, beaten by the 25.

There was a French dude in one of the games. He and I ended up in a close-combat runaround, desperately melee-ing and spraying several clips of ammo all over the place ... eventually, I killed him, to which he loudly exclaimed "C'EST IMPOSSIBLE!" and quit. Well, it made me laugh. A lot.

What a tremendous game. I don't even think I've scratched the surface of the MP mode yet, there seem to be loads more maps and game modes still to try.

PS. Anyone else finding that their EXP stats on bungie.net don't match what it says in-game?
