      He did.

I see where you are coming from though they should allow you to customise your own controls. This isn't GT though and in my opinion setting the controls to a set level puts everyone on the same playing field, and lets be honest it's not that big a deal when the game is great fun. It would be a shame you dismissed this game on the mear fact you can't adapt to the controls.

My point is that you have to use the sticks on a PS2 controller because it's a **** controller and that's the only way to get analogue control out of it (don't anyone even dare mention the 'analogue' buttons, better known as the 'why-is-my-car-going-so-slowly-in-gta,-oh-it's-because-i'm-not-forcing-the-button-through-the-controller' buttons), where as with the 360 controller you have perfect triggers that are practically made for racing games.

Wanting to be able to change button configs is one thing and I agree with you on that, but I imagine that Bizarre didn't even think to map the accelator to analogue stick because that would be retarded.

I'm sure it's anything but retarded to those who prefer using the stick for throttle control. But anyways, racked up a few hours on this now and, I have to say, there are far too many night time tracks early on in career mode for my liking which to my eyes all look rather dull and somewhat garish. Strange as the game looks quite beautiful during the day.

I'm sorry but it's pretty backwards to use the analogue sticks for the throttle when we now have analogue triggers.

But whether you see it as backwards or not, what harm is there in allowing users the option of using the sticks for throttle control? I dunno, I don't really understand how anyone can argue against including certain options because they are, by their very nature, optional and if you don't like it you don't select it.

No one can argue that the option should not be there but it's not a standard setup and I don't think Bizarre or most other racing game developers realize there are people who want to play like that.

i've only had a little mess around with this so far. i only played the second game a little, so it'll take some getting used to i suppose.

done a few of the arcade mode things, but i'm not really used to this kudos thing yet. i did one race where your'e supposed to win 5 stars or something and i didnt get 1 even though i tried it a few times. maybe i chose a bad car, but i think its because i'm too used to 'proper' driving games

i cant get on with the bikes yet either, although maybe that will change when i get some better ones. they're massively different to moto gp 07.

still the whole package seems quite swish, loads to do.

Is this PS2 controller ****? Really? Its different, but hardly ****.

Bizzarre DID include this option in the previous games, but not this one for some reason. For whatever reason that was. Anyway, right stick was also good for gear changes as well, but not in PGR4.

I've got to agree on the Ps2 controller buttons being knackers for racing games. I tried playing race driver with R2 as accelerate and you could see the accelerate bar going up and down wildly.

Actually I guess what i'm saying is the right analogue stick is ideal on the ps2 for accelerate simply as nothing else can do it on the pad!

Fired this up for a first go last night and after hours of Forza it took me a few laps to get a grip on the handling but after that I was throwing my car into corners and sliding all over the place, Gotham is back baby!!

The addition of the career mode confused me a bit as I got it mixed up with the challenge mode stuff from 3 and though it was all gone but then I found the arcade mode and I LOVE what they have done with splitting this up. Having the seperate modes for the career stuff and challenge stuff is perfect. I cant remember if it was split this way in 3 but its all slotted together nice and looks like it is going to provide hours of entertainment.

Can see the bikes are gonna take a wee bit of getting use to, especially with the cockpit view as it goes down at and angle when you turn but they are immense fun. I may prefer the 3rd person view for the bikes but aint had enough time with it to know if that will work better than my usual front of the vehicle view.

More tonight and I cant wait. Hopefully the live stuff will really start to pick up now the official release is on us and we can get some leagues and stuff going.

Bumper cam for cars, 3rd person for bikes for me - mainly due to the way the bikes corner (you need to line it up right for a good corner) and for the tricks (I dunno if you'd know you were doing it in cockpit view).

How many racing games are there that allow the user to fully define the controls ? I'm pretty sure most are locked to 6-8 variants I can't think of the last where I could freely setup everything.

Isn't the right stick locked from use because it's purely camera control ? You couldn't swap that off the right stick onto anything else except the d-pad but that's radio controls.

Yeah, I think it will be the same for me Yoshi. The bumbper cam is really low down though, some times feel like I am going to drive UNDER the cr in front of me as I approach it

The 3rd person view on the bikes is a must though I think, need to get those bad boys lined up nicely, although, once I suss the bike sliding mechanics the racing line will be out the window.

Using the bikes is really good. Using third person view is definately easier and saves a lot of frustration on the stages a bike must be used to further career mode, but the first-person and saddle views are much more fun, if rather tricky to get to grips with.
