ive had a right problem confirming this as no ne seems to knw. hopefully you guys have the answer i seek

i bought orange box on NTSC as read it was region free. been playing it on my PAL elite and all is good except when i play TF2 rumble doesnt work well i fire my weapons or get hit - as i would expect it shud!

Can someone please tellme if this game supports rumble properly. The only time i get rumble in TF2 is when i fall off a ledge and hit the ground, so my rumble is enabled and works fine in HL2 and portal. so what is wrong plz?

I checked the "new game" section and they didn't have the silver tick to say I'd done the previous ones, I had to do all six in the one sitting just now to get the last two achievements for them.
Yeah, just saw that none were ticked when I loaded it up again. Played through all six just now in under an hour and got the achievement. Good thing I saved it half way through the last 2 advanced maps. Some parts of those were so frustrating.

On the PC version My Steam games page is freezing on downloading (ep 2 stuck at 98%, but playable, and portal stuck at 75%), just showing no progress, episode 2 took all day to dload. Ive set router already very odd.

I'm presently traipsing through HL2 and I'm noticing some really dodgy texture work in the later levels.

Is anyone else seeing some really, really nasty blotchy textures to the Combine Citadel legs and darker textures? Almost like they're blotchy or mottled?

Or is my 360's GPU going tits up again?

i don`t have the PC version of HL2 to compare, but textures have looked good to me and i`m just up to the point where

j`ve taken out the 3 generators with barney

. probably not what you wanna hear...

              Aw ****.

I've had a feeling the old girls been playing up for a while now in the graphics department, ever since everything went blue sparkles during one night of Crackdown (back in March).

Oh well, time to see if I can red light the bitch and get it back off MS before Mass Effect

                I'm making a note here....

                HUGE SUCCESS!

Stuck that on my mobile phone, just went off. I still can't get over the end song in Portal Those that haven't finished it yet, are you all trying for a section eight?

Completed Half Life 2 last night and it's one of the best games I've played and, compared to Halo 3, is so much larger, classier, and more intelligent with better design, scale and pacing and truly an incredible experience. I can only imagine how cool it must have felt playing this 3 years ago and I can't wait to get stuck in to Episode 1 later tonight.

You could always break the law like everyone else on the forum did when theirs went tits up around the time of Halo. Basically you buy yourself a new console from somewhere - Tescos for example. You take the new console out the box and stick in your old one. Take it back and explain that it was like that when you got it. Just don't pay by card if you can help it

Sounds like a dodgy suggestion to me. All 360 consoles have an ID number which, if you have a Live account, is linked to your home tel number, address and credit card so when a used console is returned to MS for repair they have no trouble tracing it.

The texture work isn't as good as the PC version, so this wouldn't surprise me. I'm not that far in, but even in the station at the start I thought it looked damn rough in places.

the graphics are stunning on the 360 version, later in the game. Parts of ep2 are jaw dropping.

It looks nice, no doubt. I just think compared to the PC version (and this was hardly on cutting edge hardware, a 7800GTX 256Mb card) it suffers. I thought, for example, the flooring in the station looked terrible, some of the translucency effects were grainier, and I've also noticed some problems with "splodging" (technical term) on darker textures.

I think if you'd never played the PC version you'd never know, but I'm finding it a little irritating.

Also, it's clearly designed for mouse control. All the doorways are just a leeeeetle too small for comfortable pad navigation.

Good game though. And I far prefer playing it on the 360, due to the sofa/achievement factor.

I am now wondering if it is my 360 or not.

Since I played through Ep2 first there does seem to be a difference between that and HL2, especially the later sections. Ep2 seems way more refined in terms of texture work and visuals (not that that's a surprise given that it's the latest game).

Guess the easiest way for me to tell is to boot up Ep2 again and play through some of it. Any hitherto unnoticed corruption means me 360's definitely going down the swanny.
