So, started Ep 2 last night. 2 chapters in and it's currently sitting between dribblingly good, and Startlingly-ZMOG-WTF-BBQingly good. The Vorts, simply kick ass. And the banter between characters is very funny at times.

I hope this won't be considered a spoiler but I just loved the fact that I was running around watching 'The Candyman' blow beasties up left right and center.

That's where I knew the voice from. Lol, he dealt the Pwn like no one else. Tony Todd, is that the fella?

Yep, thats the man. As someone above us pointed out he also played Kurn.

What I don't understand is why Lou Gossett jr didn't reprise the voice acting for the Vortigaunts.

If the grav gun is one of the best guns ever made, how come the rocket launcher is the ****test gun ever to grace an FPS? 90% of shots miss and half or them fly right into your face. A rocket that shot in a straight line would be vastly superior.

You do know that you are controlling the direction of the rocket in flight right?

Err.. No. I guess knowing that would help!

The tutorial or whatever it was supposed to be really didn't explain that or at least didn't make it sufficiently clear.

How exactly do you control it?

Look at the target that you want to blow up
Aim either to the left, right or above the target
                    Fire the rocket
Bring the targeting laser back to the target
                    Ka Boom!

After you pull the trigger you just carry on aiming at whatever you want it to hit.

Just tried it out. The amount of time I've spent shooting rockets that miss.

I made it through HL2 and ep 1 without realising.

                        Thanks for setting me straight.

                          LOL

How could you miss the big red dot and rockets that go anywhere you aim

                          Comment

To be fair the game probabaly should tell you that you have to guide the rockets.

It was actualy clearer in the original Half-life becuase there were two fire modes, a guided one and one that shot stright. The mode that shoots stright seems to be missing from HL2 for some reason. I mean yeah the stright shooting mode was generaly useless but I dont see why its disapeared when it looked like youre using the exact same rocket launcher in this one.

All I heard in the tutorial was 'aim the red dot at the target' - I assumed it was self-guided. In the last bit on Ep1 I was firing rockets and they kept circling round and blowing me up.

                                GUTTED!

15 hours in (and 15 of the best gaming hours I've had all year) and the game keeps crashing at the same point of Chapter 'Our Benefactors' (which judging from the New Game level select option, is right near the end.

Shame, as I have enjoed this immensely. The last few hours with the full scale battles against Striders are superbly realised and I was really looking forward to getting to the end and making a start on Episode One but I don't want to do that until Half-Life 2 is done and dusted.

Going to hopefully try my save and DVD on a mate's console later tonight which should help determine if it's a faulty disc or console (it does seem to be related to a certain point of a music track which suggests disc).
