Beautiful Katamari

I think my lack of Katamari experience is going against me! I'm slowly clearing levels but getting pitiful scores and often just running out of time whilst being nowhere near the target size.

What I've noticed when playing this is to not give up, because even though you might only have 30 seconds left and you still need to grow another 20cm, the more you pick up the quicker it grows because you can pick up bigger items towards the end.

Size seems to matter more than the contents so don't be afraid to roll up stuff the King doesn't want in his requests. As long as it'll make your Katamari bigger, more quickly, it's all good. Try and keep the Katamari a nice round shape too as it'll roll easier/better.

I love the level where you start off really small and have a generous time limit, which lets you roll-up the entire World.

I've not had much time on it yet but I did wonder if I should concentrate on size rather than getting the stuff the king wants in it. Also, on each of the levels in the Princedom, is there only one level per house?

Its such a great game to play as a break from CoD4.

Ideally, you should be going after the requested items, but it doesn't seem to matter as long as you get enough for them to still be in 1st place. Typically, you need to get roughly double the requested size to get a 100 score.

Yep, there's only one level for each location. Time-attack mode makes them slightly different.

Yeah, classic! Doesn't go with the rhythm of the song but they just cram it in there!

I didn't enjoy this as much as the previous Katamaris. It took me maybe two hours to complete (how's that for value!) and even though it was still fun it's hard to get excited when the game is exactly the same for the third time. I couldn't be bothered to improve my scores after completing the thing.

2 hours is not very long is it? I think I may get a bit more out of it with achievement chasing... unless you managed to get them all in that 2 hour sitting I want to improve my scores. I find replaying levels is where it's at.

Yep, and you'll need to do lots of that if you want the achievements.

After playing my 50th online game yesterday, I've just got one (secret) achievement left and it'll be a pain in the arse to get it.

No I didn't. Achivements aren't my thing. I also don't think Katamari is at it's best when hunting a high score. Although I did do that in the first two games and had fun.

I think I got an OD of Katamari before this one!

Not sure how it works in this game, but in We Love Katamari, the higher score you got the better the planet/star name and form. That was another incentive.

The online mode is suprisingly entertaining. I wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly suprised.

Well, this is easily the briefest game I've played and payed 40 quid for.
But that last level? WOW! It's stunning!

The end credits were great, too.

The lack of loading screens really makes a difference in the later levels. You've a better idea of where you started in the level, and it makes you feel truly giant.

I loved it even though it's not as imaginitive or neatly designed as the others (didn't like how sparse the 3D hub level was).

Still, it's a grand game.

Does anyone know when the UK release date for the DLC is? I reckon its going to be free considering the game cost &#163;40 over here.

The DLC will not be free if / when it comes out over here. I guarantee it. I'm just hoping it *actually* comes out. I'm guessing downloading the DLC off my US account won't unlock the levels for the PAL version of the game?
