Yeah having lots of lives has been a Mario game stapple for many years, considering levels are usualy short and if you lose all your lives all you have to do is start the level again its not a big deal really anyway, you almost have to wonder why they dont just give you infinite lives.
I'm about 40 stars in at the moment and the game does seem quite a bit easier than either Mario 64 or sunshine, I dont think Ive actualy been stuck on a single star yet where as I'm pretty sure both those other games had me stumped in a couple of places (infact I found sunshine quite a big challenge to 100% actualy).
I'm hoping I am wrong and there will be some harder ones but it dosnet seem like it so far as while there is stacks of variety to the level design there isnt much variety in the way you obtain each star.Last edited by rmoxon; 18-11-2007, 12:30.

SMG did seem easier than other mario game for the first half. Wait until you're about 100 stars in and it racks up on some of the levels.
It makes sense to give the players loads of lives, because if you lose them all you just reload ya game and start again from the same point, essentially (Apart from checkpoints)Last edited by Dezm0nd; 18-11-2007, 13:23.

Just finished this one. Did it with the base 60 stars required - very cool last boss level and fight and ending. Now for the remaining stars ....addicted
totted up my playtime on this to hit 61 stars and the finish which is just under 12 hours. Not bad longevity considering I still have 59 stars to goLast edited by reektan; 18-11-2007, 21:29.

I've just got going with Galaxy today - 9 stars so far - and have been having a great time. My only gripe is the camera, which is often zoomed too far back for my liking and seems to rarely give you control of the view point. On the small asteroids that's no bad thing, but having the camera direct itself on the larger planets pretty much sucks balls and takes away much of the 3d feel that made Mario 64 stand out for me. Still, cracking game so far, and I can't wait to get stuck back in tomorrow.

Yeah I agree the camera isnt that great, I also find it really annoying when you go upside down on plants the controls never work like you think they should, also when you start flying you end up flying all over the place becuase you dont know what way does what.
This, along with the fact that there isnt relaly much challenge is why it isnt quite as good as Mario 64 for me.

I've got 90 stars now, and while not as challenging as Mario 64, I'm finding it alot more enjoyable. I suspect these latter stars are going to be a pain in the arse to get too.
The level design on the game is just utterly increidble, and it's a joy to play through the levels. Can't rate this game high enough really, truly deserving of it's dethroning of Ocarina of Time from the game rankings "best game ever" position.
