I'm on the last level of the first galaxy (8 stars), I can't fault the game so far. I don't think I've ever felt like I'm playing a perfect video game before, but Galaxy is just that. Perfect.

I'm just on the early stages but I'm just floored at how imaginative it is. I was expecting crazy but this game does super-crazy and then makes it FUN. Nintendo at its absolute best, they've managed to create the most bat-**** insane game ever made and yet make everything logical and so very natural. I'm flying about galaxies, hopping between shifting gravity, flying around as a bee, but the rules all make sense. They haven't needed to explain anything to me because I understand it just from some very clever visual clues.

    Effortlessly brilliant.

Stunning - played it for a couple of hours but immediately it has pretty much eclipsed every other game I have played this year.

This is currently the highest rated game of all time over at gamerankings.com, says everything you need to know really!

Not every critic is the same. Metacritic offers aggregated game reviews from the top critics, and our own METASCORE pinpoints at a glance how each game was reviewed.

Yeah, but that always happens when something new and generally deemed to be excellent comes out... just look at IMDB's list of top rated movies. A good chunk of them are new.

How it's going to age remains to be seen, but right now I think it's the best 3D platformer I've ever played, knocking Rayman 2 off the top spot.

I truly believe this will be what people compare the next Mario too, no longer will Mario 64 before the almighty.

As pete says, it is, quite simply, brilliant. Absolutely and remarkably so. I've spent a lot of time with the JPN version and pretty much haven't slept since the PAL version. The more you play the more clear it becomes just how amazing this is. I keep replaying levels trying to find fault, but i end up smiling even more or feeling more impressed.

And, again, i have to mention just how flipping incredible the music is. The battles against Bowser have some of the most epic music i've heard for a long time... and the superb thing is it actually fits. Doesnt seem out of place in a Mario game in the slightest. In Sunshine yes, it would, but here everything is on a much grander scale.

The only criticism I have of this game so far is the underwater controls and camera. There's one part where

you need to lead a Bullet Bill into something

and the complicated structure means the camera keeps adjusting itself, making it hard to do properly. Hopefully they're not as cack as this on other levels.

i also had reservations about the swimming controls ... its certainly tricky when doing the fast A'tapping swim ... but i found when you do the slightly slower A'holding swim the whole experience is much nicer ... though i havent done the bit you mentioned yet so maybe you need to do the tapping swim for that

So there'll be different comets every time, and I suppose the game rinses and repeats until you've managed 120 stars? That's pretty funky and ensures that you have a different game every play through. Cheers!
Not sure if I need to spoiler this but..

No, I believe the comet stars are set in stone, it's just the times you can access them will change. So if you have a purple comet on one galaxy, and then it disappears because you don't pass it and then quit, it will eventually come back, that star won't be replaced by something else.

To be honest, I found the hindering camera at several points was only thing that added any challenge to the game.

Im nearly done with the core part of this game, decided to take a break because I didnt want to ruin the ending just because I wanted it "complete" faster. Im not going to attempt to get 120 stars untill I have more time. While my expectations were high, I didnt expect the quality of level design to be so high. Some of the levels here are completly out of this world. When your given the flyby of some stars and you realise you have one insane task to navigate to point A to B. Later on it just keeps pileing more and more on and I feel the game has really set a good balance between hard levels and easy levels. Again, congratulations to Shiggy and crew, this game has provided so far some of the best platforming moments in history for me and im sure plenty of other gamers would agree.

I seriously cannot believe how incredible the level design is in this game - easily some of the greatest mario levels ever.

Just got to the bit where you have to get the golden shell to open the golden chest - smashing the old mario bros bricks to get through to the main chamber then like being propelled through a gap of air into another pool .. getting the shell then racing down. Venturing back through the hole to be greeted by about 40 ghosts as you dazzle them with the light on your shell. Aah Mario

It's the little control touches that take into the galaxy (pun intended)

Like swinging those bomb ghosts or using the slingshots

                          For those with 120 stars

Have you played as Luigi yet? Noticed the increased difficulty with him? He's a slippy little bastard which makes some of those tighter walks harder

Also, Cosmic Luigi is a total bastard, he's got some wicked moves. I'm glad they upped the difficulty for obvious reasons, I just can't wait to see what happens with 120 stars as luigi but i know its gonna be even harder than it was with mario.

Um, maybe I'm not that fussed by Mario any more but I've just hit 60 lives after a couple of hours play. It's fun for sure but hardly challenging?

God I dont even know how many lives I have, 15 or something but I dont even bother with going about collecting them really. I wouldn't say its hard though your right, but have Mario games ever really been hard as such?

How far are you in it? Have you done that sweet sweet land level with the classic music. I thought it was very challenging, i heard it gets even more challenging later on.
