The level where you are swimming under water and have to get the missiles to follow Mario comes to mind - horrible.

Yeah that level was a bit troublesome but the end was totally awesome and made up for it.
I had the first moment I really didn't like earlier tonight -
a boss against a mole on the gusty garden world, star number 2. Stupid attack pattern that suddenly changes on the last attack and there is no way of adapting without losing hit points before hand. It really frustrated me as it was so jarring next to all the other brilliance in the game up to that point
. Still, I did it in the end and moved onto the next galaxy and all is forgiven

Its not that hard actualy, the hardest boss I have faced so far is the one on the ghost level, doing that with one hitpoint is pretty tough.Last edited by rmoxon; 22-11-2007, 23:08.

I agree about the camera - on quite a few occasions it has annoyed me. I find it particularly poor on some of the larger planets when it chooses where you get to look. One of the joys in Mario 64 was that I got to choose all this, instead I feel a little herded. Even on the hub it grates - i'll be running in one direction and the camera will choose that I get to look in a different one.
Otherwise the game is stunning.Last edited by H-Man; 22-11-2007, 23:33.

Yeah the camera pissed me off quite a lot, but I have to say that I don't remember having any trouble with it underwater. Not sure if it's the same level you've been discussing (
the one where you blow up the weight and the bottom part of the level moves up so you can climb the column thing?
), but I just did it again tonight while on my second play-through of the game and had no trouble with it.
+1 over here for the springy suit hate, I was going out of my way trying to find alternatives to using it. Absolutely dreading using it again; you'll be desperately trying to get an item that is right beside you but is made near-impossible to pick up because of the way he moves.

I haven't had any problems with the camera myself. Although i sometimes miss jumping on an enemy due to the spatial awareness, but thats probably down to me. :P
As for the water levels, i love them myself and ive never had a problem with them. Ive got about 70+ stars so far, ive been doing every star ive come across.

Think I'm on 58 stars but I have been mopping them all up before moving on. I think I've got unopened galaxies worth about 29 stars still.
Did the
mole boss
last night. Once again, the daredevil comet hit is straight afterward - more fabulous game design.
I had the measure of the little monkey though
I'm desperate to find the final
green star
. It sounds so intriguing.

I haven't yet had any camera problems but you guys have me nervous now that they're going to crop up later. Like how I loved Billy Hatcher at the start and then, by the end, realised it was completely broken. So far, the camera has been oddly great for me. Odd because I still think the camera in M64 was often pox and it was so awful in Sunshine that I got furious at the game on many occasions.
But then, I've done many water sections in this without a problem. Though I did wonder how it would have been with pointy swimming controls, as in pointing the direction you want to go in.
That said, I have two major criticisms. On the cleaning challenge, when I failed it didn't give me a quick 'retry' option meaning I had to press the A button at least once more than I should have had to. And, on one level, I saw pop up. A bit of debris just popped up out of nowhere. 3/10.
