Hence why I'm taking Mario slowly, because I know the wii will be off for months afterwards again

Hopefully Nights won't be too far off. Zack and Wiki (PAL) too.

I'm wondering if we'll ever see another game as refined as this (or a time as filled with quality AAA releases).

Were people like this when Mario 64 was released? I'm guessing so but I was without internet back then...and didn't own a N64

People were like this, but it was very different as very few people had internet access and places to eulogise about it and share. If you didn't have games-playing friends you were on your own!

I just can't get over the music in this game though. Wandering around the observatory you'd swear the music was a classical piece, it's just the most professionally put together 'game' I've ever played. I put 'game' in quote marks because to me this is what this is; a proper, fun game. The in-game presentation of something like CoD4 is awesome with the satellite imagery, but it's striving for something far more like a film.

For me one of the most enjoyable thing is hoovering up those star bits. In past Mario games the coin was king, and there were hundreds of the golden gits to try to catch as they bounced and spun away. Chasing after them was my one annoyange in Mario 64. Being able to harvest anything you see (star bits) with the remote is a god-send and really addictive. They're so bright and colourful!

I've been wondering something similar Pete. Where does Nintendo go with Mario after this? Surely this is the closest anyone can get to recreating that unique and special magic not seen since Mario 64. Nintendo have got it right here, almost unbelievably so... But, what happens to Mario now?

Surely that's what people have been saying between Mario 64 and this though eh? Keep the faith folks!

(I still haven't even unsealed my copy, although my "I'm giving this to myself for Christmas" resolve is buckling more and more by the minute...)

I'm sure Jesus would want you to play it now, and not wait until his Birthday. Although, your other best option might be to just change religion. Try Hindu, they just had Diwali, and what better way to celebrate the festival of lights than with a copy of Super Mario Galaxy to yourself?

I have no idea, but I hope it's not another 11 year wait.

They better be working on Super Mario Universe or else.

That observatory music - it brings me joy enjoy time I turn the game on. However, my flatmate has pointed out that it is just "rock a by baby" which is true. He also reckons some of the other tunes are just nicked from somewhere else.

And yes, this game is very good and being just that - a videogame. That seems to me to be what the wii does best - bringing straightforward videogaming back.

Or maybe they could work on some new IP.......

                                105 Stars in.

I have started to run out of hints as to where the rest might be, you know how you would get a little question mark next to the star (on the star select screen) - signifying there is something else lurking away in that part of the level, none are really appearing now. Can anyone nudge me in the right direction please.
