I agree with what H-Man says about looking down off ledges, sometimes it is hard to do. There was a question mark on one of the bee levels that is hard to see and I was trying to work out where it was for ages and couldn't look down off some ledges properly to see it.

So, I?ve had Mario Galaxy for about a week now so time to give my two cents. I must also note I'm about 45 stars into it for those looking at the spoiler tagged sections
First of all I must say I hate Mario Galaxy, absolutely hate it. All these games coming out, hundreds of pounds spent on gaming across the 360, DS and wii and my most anticipated game for the last two years arrives in my possession yesterday. But none of that matters as when Galaxy was first played nothing else mattered, everything sidelined. Mass Effect has become something to play while waiting for my brother to get off Mario so I can play it, England loosing the Euro before they even began and my home town club destroyed by scandal (Luton) are trivial matters and work has become as annoying as the need for sleep only I?m conscious and not playing Mario. So . . . to be more accurate, I kind of hate that Mario Galaxy is so good.
It?s not Mario 64, which is a good thing as I already own that game . . . twice. It seems more linear in the missions, kind of a mixture of old 2D Mario?s and the new ones. Atmosphere and humor are are well done as normal. I love the
storybook
. It's a silly little thing but was completely unexpected but for me it adds that little bit extra something other games lack. I like the mission structure, how they're unlocked but things do unlock pretty fast. As I try and do the most I can in a room before moving on everything is pretty much unlocked when I do move on. I'm not sure if this was the same in 64 as I did play it in a different way.
I liked Sunshine, but not enough to complete it. I've always called it the second best 3D platform game ever made. Now its the third. I can't say if its better than Mario 64 though as I can't help being biased towards the older game. It was one of my first N64 games, which was my first games machine since the family ownedAmstrad CPC 6128 and Commador +4. Games had changed a fair bit in between. So no game can make a bigger impression on me than Turok and Mario 64, though Turoks sequels done a successful job of tarnishing my fond memories of the original.
One bad thing Galaxy inherits from its predecessors its the camera angle at times, and I do find moving difficult upside down sometimes, but none of that is game breaking or even game denting. The other thing is that its slightly to easy. I mean if I, a self confessed crap gamer at most things, can get 45 stars in the space of a week there must be something wrong with the difficulty settings. Either that or I've been playing way too much. It's probably best that I don't investigate how many hours I've invested so far.
In a year of very excellent games, probably the best I've been involved in, Mario Galaxy has an almost clear run at the game of the year title, with only Portal to possibly stand in the way.

OK, can anyone help? For the first time since Forest of Illusion, I don't have a clue what I'm meant to do.
I'm on this annoying square planet, and there's a thing that sends me flying into the air. But I can't get to the top spinny star thing. What am I missing?
Edit: nevermind, got it. I found shaking the nunchuk THEN the remote did it.Last edited by Lyris; 23-11-2007, 19:43.
