Doing Medium drums, Green Grass and High Tides is infuriating. I can't do it, it lasts for so long and is so much harder than any other song far, the step up difficulty wise is huge, I passed every song on that setlist first time easy peasy and now this is taking me loads and loads of efforts.

Poor song choice and placement just ruined this for me now!

I got stuck on it for ages Rossco and fluked it by a drum star power on my last go. I find it a doddle on medium guitar but medium drums a nightmare. I find 99% of the songs easy to do now on normal on both but hard is just way too hard for me on either at moment.

I'm at the cusp of a skill move up too.

can 5* everything on guitar medium with ease but really stuggle with the pesky 5th fret and not getting my head round it yet.

never progressed to hard yet on any GH games either but feel the need with RB to persist.

Yep same Merf I found GH3 too hard on medium for myself. I know RB is doable on hard though thats the difference for me between the series I just need to invest more time to it when my health improves again from respite hols.

On GGaHT medium drums just keep overdrive ready for the really long bit, and it puts loads of gaps into it where you can rest for a second and regain your timing when it's off, then just use it if you're really struggling. It's not actually a hard song to play, it's just the endurance test nature of it that causes problems. Everything on medium drums past that isn't anywhere near that much of a struggle though, once you've passed it it'll be a breeze until you start hard!

It's taken me three GH games and now Rock Band to get used to that 5th fret but now I finally have! I want to go back and play Guitar Hero to see if I've really improved or whether it's just Rock Band being easier, but I managed to finish hard on this, my GH record is to 5* everything on medium (on II and III) and then get about half way through hard before crumbling. Bloody incompatible guitars. The best tip is just to start with your hand a fret further up than on medium, stretch for the green instead of the orange, which is the temptation. Once you get used to that it's all OK.

I'm having problems on expert with fast strumming though. Creep, for example, I can't play that really long fast sequence anywhere near accurately, I just strum randomly and probably hit all the notes, but strum way too fast and end up strumming non-notes too. Advice greatly received!

Definately I did GGAHT on hard first time but found it was the first song when I needed to not activate my star power. You don't lose your combo and it does give you a moment of rest and you'll find it keeps trying to get you to activate it.

In terms of guitar I've been going through on expert and got to the tier after fear the reaper and started my drum career. I didn't get to a block so to speak but I did lose interest a bit. I find generally it's much more fun playing as the full band.

Has anyone experimented with the DLC much? I've got a fair few songs and got to say the boston pack is still the highlight

But how do you activate the star power on drums if you miss that filler section? I'm back to playing guitar again now anyway as it was pissing me off so much that I almost snapped my drumsticks in a moment of rage but chucked them off the wall instead!

It'll just keep coming with a filler section. There's no penalty for missing it but after another bar it'll appear again until you activate it, while it's not activate whenever you want it does help and as has been suggested gives you a short break.

I've got loads of DLC, heh, but not the Boston pack, I'll probably get it eventually though. For me, so far the highlights are all the Weezer stuff, Pixies, and probably QOTSA but then I just like those bands...

As mentioned above, if you just don't activate it it keeps giving you fill after fill until you do activate it, and it's particularly useful on GG&HT!

                      YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!

Thanks guys! I used those spaces to help me, saved my star power and used it wayyy later on into the song and managed it.

Plus I was actu8ally able to keep the beat with yellow and red this time and just didn't bother with bass pedal during those sections.

                      Man that was tiring.

Remember red and bass drum are the highest valued notes

I did not know that, will keep that in mind for future!

Ive bought all bar 5 songs on the ps3 version as they work out fairly cheap, i think the last time i looked i had 218 songs , might be a few less, so its fair to say ive experimented with the DLC. and dont regret any of it to be honest at a £1 or less a shot

Yeah so if you find yourself flat lining make sure to concentrate on the kick drum and snare (red)

Yeah Creep is surprisingly tough, I can hit the right coloured notes but I'm either way to slow or too fast in the difficult part. I actually find that song harder than most actually just for that section, despite appearing near the top in the list.
