I meant to try that! So, it does work then? It was quite fun with the guitar, if impossible to follow, I imagine the drums are the same

I'm getting really annoyed with these leaderboards. When I finish a song, I want to go and check how I did in relation to the world, and I find that they don't actually update until about two hours after you've done it. Rubbish. No other game has been this crap with leaderboards, why this one, with it's inherently score based gameplay? Gah.

And that's ignoring the ridiculous decision to only have 100,000 scores on the leaderboard meaning half the time you can't even compare scores with your friends.

I started a band with my sister today.

I was on Guitar, her on the Vocals (she sings for a living).

Really enjoyed it, i might actually buy the extra instruments
          .

My sister headed off out to buy a 360 after playing it, as she really likes the GH games on the PS2 as well.

Finally got a chance to play this for the first time today, ended up playing for 3 hours

Went round a friends to give him a book and he had rockband, "Can I try out the drums?" has lead to us agreeing to play every other weekday It didnt really click for me until I switched up to medium drums and we were playing "Weezer - Say it aint so" I was really getting into it and then the crowd started singing along - goosebumbs and a massive grin on my face hehe

This would be a personal instant buy if I had the room and housemates that would actually give it a try. Ah well i'll settle with playing for free every other day.

Yeh I started playing yesterday and have completely fallen in love with it.

On Guitar I've started on hard and have breezed through much of it so far but its still great fun, less forgiving than GH but the note charts have a good feel, they just seem right if that makes sense.

As for Drums. Well it was a complete culture shock and I found the actual noise off the drum kit itself very distracting but eventually found a rhythm when playing Foo Fighters - Learn to Fly. Had that experience where you just zone out and suddenly the timing is there almost intuitively, great stuff.

I've grabbed a set of those dampening pads from the US and they've made a world of difference to the drum noise and the pads themselves are still really, really responsive and I've got the old type set.

So what DLC does everyone reccommend? I've grabbed the Boston, Bowie and Metallica packs this morning but ran out of time.

Totally down to personal taste - but my favourite dlc has been Blondie, The Police and The Knack's My Sharona.

my commute listen thru my mp3 player drew my attention to a band that seems strangely absent from song listings on this or guitar hero.

the world needs some Offspring DLC (the good stuff, not pretty fly for a white guy).

I love this game so much - it steals all my play time from NG2 and even MGS4 won't get that much of a look in when the flat mates want to play. So much fun with 3 (no mic - I won't allow it )
Even the free Disturbed tracks are good!

I have hit a wall on the hard drums career - Don't Fear the Reaper (the outro to be precise).

Really enjoying this so far, having a lot of fun playing the guitar part while the girlfriend does the vocals. The main difference I've noticed from GH is that the timing is much harsher, you really have to nail it. I've also found I can actually take in some of the performance in the background which I could never do in GH without screwing up.

I tried this for the first time last night - I can see what you mean! Really going to have to work on my rolls.

Watched Ally play the real drums last night which was quite humbling.

Personally love the blondie ones also.

Myself and my dad played it for the very first time day together day before yesterday (always been rediculed by family for playing a plaggy guitar since GH1) and he went off clutching GH2 and GH2 guitar for 360 upstairs (as he has a 360 also) at the end of it with a big grin on his face. Ive moved up to medium drums now, hit a massive wall for 24hours on only my 3rd song (Garbage paranoid) but next day when i played with family found em all fine and have to admit Ive got to grips much quicker on drums on medium then I ever did on guitar looking back on GH1 on PS2 (that took me months, rb took me 5days from no drums to medium).

On reccomendation of my dad I bought the cars album two nights ago as well. The preview intros I didnt like but the actual songs (only done two so far) are up their with my favs. Then I did Blondies Call me for first time and left a very happy chappy at end of session

Ive ended up going back to easy to do all the set list as I havent done my download content, Im something silly like 34 songs in out of 130 heh!

God I love Rock Band. It's ace.

Mrs Sol not so impressed with the drum noise though. So I've got some pads from here: http://www.rockbanddrumpads.co.uk/. Not cheap at £15-ish delivered, but since they're rubber, not foam, hopefully they'll last.

Just gave them a try on the kit we've got in the office and they're noticably quieter, and seem to offer some nice rebound as a side effect, so I figured I'd mention it here in case it helps anyone else out!
