Singstar PS3

Ok, bought this yesterday, thank to Rockband getting me into singing. It's good there's no arguement about that, but it does have problems.

The good.

Loading times great! the interface is very easy to use, the online store + profile and viewing other peoples songs, videos, pictures is superb. The Singstore is very good instance loading times the prices are fine and it all looks great. The game is fun to play!

The bad.

Either I haven't looked hard enough or I can't find a way to change the lyrics from static to scrolling, no online play.....really!? is this not 2008?

The song selection is way to small! for a game thats just based on singing (e.g not rockband) why so little songs? Just to be picky the actual cover for the PS3 games are puckworthy (The first Singstar PS3 worse cover EVAR!!!!) I prefer the drawn style of the PS2 games.

The ugly.

OK so the missus is pushhing me to buy this game, and with trophies on the way i figured why not. Now I have done a bit of research and have found that the US version is the only one that contains New Found Glory My Friends Over You. Is this true? If so is it available from the Store?

Ok so if there is no way i could do my best Jordan impersionation without buying a US disc, if i do buy a US disc, could i purchase from the singstore with my Aussie Credit Card? I mean, since you have to buy from the singstore, how does that work? With Rock Band if i am logged on via my Aussie PSN it doesnt connect. Will it be the same? Will my Aussie CC work, or is the singstore universal? I really want the game with NFG, since Rock Band refuses to put them on, but want to be able to buy more songs.

Also is there any difference between vol 1,2 or 3? If so is it worth buying a newer volume? Also if i buy vol 3 are songs from vol 1 and 2 on the singstore?

They sell em all in track packs and online, rather than as stand alone titles as the GH games etc launched.

You've got 90 songs in the 3 volumes currently out, several hundred online (at 99p each) and then the Queen and ABBA spin offs bolt on another 50 or so. There is also a Pop Hits pack with another 30 songs due out later this month. I don't think it's as bad as it sounds, I mean you can pick up the individual discs for between £10 and £20 (Vol 1 and 2 are currently £9.98 on Amazon) making them less than half the price of Guitar Hero or Rock Band stand alone.

I got lucky with a pair of wireless Microphones for £19.99 the other week from GameStation (priced wrong and they honoured it) and have to say, they make the game so much more enjoyable for me... even though it's a tiny little thing.

I thought the first 2 PS3 Singstars were a bit limited in their selections as there just doesn't feel to have been enough classics on them, but Vol 3 really does fix that.

I got a PlayStation Eye the other week too and we tried that the other night, thats very well integrated, it takes snaps of you at certain points in the song and also records a video sequence. Bit gimmicky, but great for parties.

To the Cuber001, I'd pick up all 3 Singstar Volumes, its cheaper buying the content on the discs than it is to download the ones that they have put online.

Patch 3.01 is up so finally some trophies. Downloading now. Going pretty slow. Cant wait.
