The only thing with the POW attack I can figure out is it only affects you if you're on the ground. If a POW attack comes along and there's a jump infront of you, as long as you're in the air you're safe.

If there's a proper way to avoid it, i'd love to know.

Shake the remote just before the POW block takes effect and you wont spin out.

Been thoroughly enjoying this all weekend, only have the Mirror Lightning Cup to get gold on then I'm done with GP. I can see me playing it more than the DS version which was also great but spoiled by cheating snakeing twats online. I read elsewhere that people who were cheating on TT had their times wiped by Nintendo, nice to see some effort being made to stamp out the sort of crap that ruined Mario Kart DS.

This is what Im loving about this machine and the depth of what was I first thought was a turd in the making MKWii. I will not stop feeling dirty for a week in penance for doubting it lol

Im doing TT at moment as done all me cups. I wont spoil it but I need to do them lol Firstly you race a set nintendo ghost. If you beat him well (a challenge on some tracks!) you get a hardcore nintendo ghost to beat whats flaming hard and for me at moment goes in to do later. Ive just unlocked the last harcode one so I can finally go eat and delve into online multiplayer tommorow

When you set a time you can see where you are regarding your friends,continent, world and top 10. This in itself gives that one more go mentality. Thing for me what makes it incredible though is you can go off and do TT all day long set a time and send it to a friend to race. You cant cheat really (I guess restart would though lol) because when you set a time and beat it you get an option to send that time back to them or not so you cant just set the best time and send it back (up to 5 people/times in I think either one go or one 24hour session not checked yet could be until they accept it).

Now what I love about this game is when I go into my MK channel it tells me that I have a challenge from a friend. I accept it and can either do it their and then or the ghost gets stored on the track TT. The download of the ghost takes mere seconds. This in itelf for me is pure gold. You can say stuff the world if you want and just keep beating each other all day long. What Ive also noticed about TT is its so damn quick to load. You can go from start to ingame in 10seconds. If you mess up you choose restart and your talking at most 2seconds to get back in. None of the horrific next gen racing of waiting an age to redo your TT track. Its so quick the countdown to race takes longer!

Only thing I would like in TT though for me is the vehicles. Id like them to be split to car or bike. Im thinking of maybe having a gentlemans agreement with people in future that if I get a bike TT sent I race as bike and vice versa. I know the top players though some of them it just depends on the track so abit of a mute point.

Ive clocked another 8hours today on this just on TT. For me this is what Sega Rally next gen should have been in TT design. The game is just becoming one beautifull onion of genius layers.

A quick question but does countersteering/wiggling the wheel speed up the change from blue to gold mini turbo?

It is just me or does anyone else think that the 1-player GP modes are just pure luck? I think this is the first mario kart ive ever played where no matter how well you race you are never guarenteed a 1st place finish....especially on 150cc, so many times ive been in first place due to pure racing skill and then get blasted to 8th/9th place becuase of the weapons...i think the AI in this game just stinks to the extent that i dont think i'll even bother playing 1-player apart from time trials.

they should have kept the same style as the DS version which i think was the best all round mario kart.

Is someone going to set up a TT challenge of some sort? I will but I'll need to have a think about how first, I would suggest just doing it between friends but as the limit is 30 that seems a bit pointless as we can't all be friends with everyone involved.

Online races do have that 'just one more race' feeling but so does the TT'ing, especially as you can challenge other peoples ghosts. I'm loving this online. i don't understand why you can't stay connected to WFC all the time though, it keeps logging off and back on (taking ages) when you navigate menus or want to go to a race rather than TT challenge. Where all the other menus are really fast and have next to no load times this seems really annoying and out of place.

Just need to find time offline now to complete everything so I get the unlockables and can choose all the best vehicles for TT'ing.

I've been giving this some hammer over the weekend and have mixed thoughts about it. Out of the new levels none of them seem to be classics, I haven't seen any great shortcuts of merit. The only one I quite like is Koopa Cape, all the courses seem overtly wide (I know this is a compromise for the wheel control) and are very long and tedious - some of them are a real slog to get through.

On the other-hand Wi-Fi Play is great and has some nice touches, the wheel is responsive and controls well but isn't control of choice for me, if it wasn't for the Wi-Fi play this would have been straight back to the shop.

The real shame for me is that you can't pick a top 10 ghost to race against.

Beating rivals is a great way to improve you TT time but the fastest in the world is always someone doing just one lap, which I really don't get!

Sounds like a good plan. I guess that everyone here will use manual drift but that can be optional.

Better make it a track off the first 4 cups to start with though to allow those who haven't yet opened up everything (me) to compete.

Ideas from me would be wheel only set car and character only or same with bike (and choose whether wheel should be on or off).
