Well PS3 version started well, 7.1 again like GTAIV then I noticed it was running at 480p after GTAIV so had to reset and found it runs at 720p only. Loaded up looked same as 360 even though I was running 360 at 1080p, loading the same level it took longer. Started doing a video of it and ended up not bothering, after 360 versions its got some serious slowdown for comparison and some nasty tearing in cockpit view, replays their doesnt seem to be any difference. Gameplays abit odd as its miles easier to go to the limit with the PS3 pad and over it and correct it wherase 360 I found it harder to bring back from the brink. It felt off on PS3 more arcadey, weird cant describe it.
360 version for me for definite, just a much smoother ride.

Edit just uploaded a hd replay
GRID demo on the xbox 360 at 1080p - Track 3 the road circuit in replay mode all ingame footage.

I've started a time trial thread for this in the online gaming challenges forum for those who want to show us your skills.

I thought the touring cars and the drifting were both pretty dull. I couldn't figure out the floaty handling on the beemer at all. However, we've seen in the past that the real game can be better. The drifting wasn't my cup of tea - far too fast and imprecise.

However, I absolutely loved the muscle car racing. Total arcade thrills with assists on.

Which version did you play Charlesr? I found it off on PS3 way too easy with ds3 more like a arcade racer 360 hell of a lot more harder and sim/arcade feel.

Played this quickly and it seemed pretty impressive, some of the slickest presentation I've ever seen (Generic name thingy was a genious touch, It's weird hearing the game refer to me directly) it rattled along a fair old speed too and that was without the benefit of having my sound turned on.

I found the same thing. I usually loathe muscle cars but found it a joy in this.

I'm glad people are enjoying Grid like me.

You should try setting a time and enter it on the leaderboards here:

Ok, first impressions for me are a bit disappointing.

                        Plus points:

The graphics are amazing - travelling fast gives you a real sensation of speed as the scenery disappears behind you, and the level of detail is staggering.

Presentation wise, it is extremely slick and well-done. Good sound and Live options means that when you first load up you can see a lot of attention has been paid to layout and ease-of-use.

                        Negative points:

Like TheForce, I do not like the direction they have taken with the handling. After the immense TOCA series on the Playstation, the (for me) regressive approach to arcade handling is a major disappointment for me. It is sad to see a once-great series slowly moving away from what once made it great.

This comes at a time when (as the News thread about the F1 licence shows) other racing licences are being debated, regarding how they have moved away from the characteristics of their 'best' editions. F1, the Colin Mcrae series, GRID (nee TOCA), they are all becoming more 'arcadey' in their handling, leaving Forza and, to a lesser extent, Gran Turismo as the only gaming licences focusing upon simulation.

I guess I have been lucky to have played such an immense game as Forza in recent times. For me, this is the epitome of driving fun - being able to feel the limits of the car, anticipating just when the tires are reaching the limits of adhesion, and being able to correct slides the exact moment they occur. Throw in multiplayer (and racing against such great players as TheForce and Kubrick etc) and I do not need anything else for racing (well, apart from more tracks - Spa please )

Which digresses from what this thread is about: GRID.

I guess I am going to hang back on purchasing this when it first comes out. The only reason I can see this changing is if the multiplayer turns out to be good (which it could very well do).

                        Summary:

If you like aracde racers, this looks like it will be right up your street. For moaning gits like me, it is too much of a change from it's origins.

I don't think its fair to call it an arcade racer. Its neither arcade nor simulation, it sits happily somewhere in the middle.

I think after DiRT showed how they had taken the series and moved them away from simulation, it doesn't comes as much as a suprise that the handling is a little more forgiving.

You are probably right there, I was a bit off the mark calling it a pure aracde racer.

This game will definitely have it's fans, as this First Play thread shows, but (for me) I still wish they had made the handling more simulation.

In GRID I just miss the "feel" of the car, from PGR they also say its more arcade then sim, and it is ofcourse, but in PGR I still feel what the car is doing or going to do, and I just miss that in GRID , I'm not saying GRID is a bad game, it's just not my thing.
