Watch me. I'd never play it in Hard EX mode, I'm just not that hardcore a gamer.

Same here, I'd struggle to A Rank all of Normal tbh. Also not that big a fan of racing the missions - I much prefer the drawn out scraps that require changing your strategy on the fly. New weapons tho...

You've got an Archer from Disgaea as an avatar. Unlocking that class requires some dedication

Unfortunately VC only uses turns taken to complete a mission to grade your performance and in hard skirmishes this turns the game into spamming orders on just one unit.
Behind Her Blue Flame gives you the Ruhm, I wonder how the weapons from the Hard Ex will be.

It's a gashapon toy, the only skill that required was eBay bidding...

The Ruhm has turned my Rosie into a serious bitch! Its funny to see Imperials trying to mess with her now, tho I'm tempted to give it to Edy.

Lynn, Vyse or Jane; probably the characters with the highest damage output of the whole game against infantry. Lynn can attack twice what you select (instead of Rosie's double attack that will strike the same target, even if already dead), Vyse has Challenge Lover than greatly rises his attack stats and Jane is a good all-around Trooper, with Sadist and Imperial Hater for more damage and even self-healing capabilities (Brul has the highest concentration of girls doing "delicate" jobs then turning into warmachines - Alicia was a baker and Jane was a florist). Edy is, but she has Rosie Hater and you always bring Rosie for her extra CP, she can be replaced with other characters.
Not to mention, she's not exactly my fav character, personality-wise.

Anyone have any advice for the second bit of Edy's Detachment? The bit where you have to get her to the south of the map while still protecting your base... I'm struggling.

Pop Largo in the lookout tower to deal with the tank and then run Edy around FTW! Chuck nades off the other tower you climb to even up the odds.

Don't worry about covering the rear of the camp in this bit.

2nd part is the easiest. 1st part is kind of random since the CPU can just decide not to spot the scout in the back giving you a nice Game Over. I understand that it gives some sort of ambush feeling moving your troops back and forth, but this just sucks. You can also get your lancer to the back of the heavy tank killing it in 1 blow. Take a Scout with Edy, let that scout use nadelauncher on the roof with the 2 stairs and run with Edy.

I got a B grade, but I've saved right after the 1st part so going for A and the rest next to get all the endings.

By the way, I don't really understand Selvaria's DLC. I completed it by finishing 2 maps on B grade. I do know how to get access to the other stages but how the hell does one beat the 1st level in 3 turns? My Engineer can't reach the last obstruction in 3.

Will try that. I've had so many conflicting bits of advice now (here and rllmuk) I feel a bit lost and am starting to think I might just have reached the pique of my natural ability... I'm stuck on chapter 17 of the main story too and the game is definitely becoming more like work these days.

Then maybe you should think about taking out the obstructions a little more creatively than having Johann run right up to them...

I A ranked the 1st mission now, turned out to be very easy, in fact. I'm now trying to A the 2nd.

So basically you have to finish this sidestory in one go using saves. That means that its wise to keep multiple savepoints? Because, if you A rank the 1st mission, you won't get the 3rd mission. It looks like its really impossible to beat the tank within 3 turns.

I see this game has jumped back up to #5 in the US PS3 chart. This is great news as without decent sales we'll never see a sequel and that'd be a real shame. I'm sure there are plenty of Wii owners who'd simply love to play and on-rails version of the game though ;-)

Got a good bump in Japan on the back of the DLC as well apparently, which is good news. This is still on my pile - will start either this or Mirrors Edge when I'm done with Lego Batman.
