      The bit about

the doctor that fixed his body, isn't that a snatcher reference, he says his names Dr Modnar and Octacon mentions him being an expert in cyber genetics, I'm sure it's talking about Petrovich Modnar who created snatchers

        Yeah he does. I have

played Snatchers, but it was along time ago and didn't know it was a reference. I never did finish Snatchers as i found the end bit frustratingly hard, i never had a lightgun. :/

Ive watched a bit of the documentary, it talks a tiny bit of Policenauts. Goddamn it, what i giant cock tease. I really want to play that game. But i don't want to play it in Japanese, still waiting on the slowly developing English translation.

Also the track Metal Gear Saga, kicks serious amounts of Arse!

Its like The Rock all over again. Thank you Harry Gregson Williams!

does the Dual shock 3 add anything more to the game over a sixaxis

To be honest the DS3 in MGS was very very weak, I barely ever felt it. I don't know if that is these new pads with lame rumble to save battery or not interfere with the sixaxis or if it was the game.

There was one awesome bit involving Psycho Mantis and his power of telekinesis, which was enough to make me glad I bought it.

Shawn Elliot over at GFW has written a pretty interesting blog post on the game:

It's harsh comparing the game to Battlefield Earth, because within context of its own medium, while it's hardly at the top in terms of exploring themes, I'd hardly class it Haze-level bad. I view MGS4's bizarre and completely over the topic theatrics as an impressively varied, yet nonsensical interactive anime more in the vein of Ghost in the Shell 2.

For the most part I thought the rumble effects were very subtle, they didn't really over do it, there were some nice use's of it though like when a character would say scratch his leg it'd give off a very very light rumble, can't imagine me wanting to go back to using a sixaxis as for me it does add a little bit extra to the game.

                        I loved that bit

especially when he shouts RUMBLE IS BACK! made me smile that.

My lil review of MGS4. Spoiler & story discussion free of course.

Metal Gear Solid on the original Sony Playstation is held as my favourite game of all time. Now that I've finished MGS4 the latest incarnation of the Metal Gear series. It has put me in a very difficult position, it could very well knock off my favourite game of all time of its glowing holy perch. Which has been siting right up there aloft for the past decade! I enjoyed every minute of it from beginning to end. The characters the amount of scope, action and stealth setpieces.

It's also got to be credited for its gameplay and music. The music itself fits all the themes wonderfully, its not over the top and quite possibly the best soundtrack since the original. I won't discuss the gameplay too much as you can find out for yourself easily. Of all the current generation machines Xbox 360 & PS3. Its by far the best looking game ever made and truly shows that the PS3 as a console can seriously do much better graphics than Xbox 360. Makes everything thats come before pale before it in comparison. Its the killer app for the PS3 to show that it can be done.

Since upon its release there has been alot of negativity coming from the length of its cutscenes. Indeed they can be long, but nowhere near as long as some reviewers would have you think. Its roughly the same as some of the previous games. Even then, the game balances it out nicely between the gameplay.

There was never a time where i thought that i really wanted to get back into the game. They are as ever well directed and its all in wonderful realtime. The way the game takes you into and out of cutscene is extremly smooth and no other game has ever managed to do this properly or as superb as this.

As i was saying previously, its neck and neck for my top position. As soon as the credits came to a close i wanted to play it again! Surely GOTY material right there. Theres only been a few games that have managed to make me to do this, MGS1 and Resident Evil 2.

Kudos to Kojima, hes wrapped up a decade of beautiful games absolutly wonderfully!
If you have a PS3, you owe yourself to buy this game even if you've never played any of the previous titles.

                          Homoerotic swordfighting for the WIN!

                          10/10

Again, having had more time to reflect ,that's what I got from it too. To an extent it was giving me the same vibe I get from a really good Anime story but with added interactivity.

As you'd expect from a game from an Eastern dev company it has a lot of social and cultural traditions embedded in it. There's an inherent awkwardness about some aspects of it, some of which fit the very definition of lost in translation. A good example is the moment between

Otacon and Naomi in the aircraft and the coyness you see between them.

The game is still dogged in parts by corny dialogue and some annoying (albeit rare instances) of terrible voice acting (Otacon's crying just made me want to slap his head off his shoulders), but I found all these tend to become insignificant against the plus points that far outweighed them.

I do think that how much you get out of the game will depend on how much you liked the others and how much of a fan you are of Snake's adventures.

I said before it's release that I expected nothing less than fan service, and got it in spades.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one disgusted with his crying

                                Otacon crying is a tradition.

You should remember him in MGS2. Hilarious!
