NekoFever, do you mean the cutscene where he
sees the barrel, looks at the box and has another look at the barrel before smiling smugly to himself because he thinks he's just had the best idea ever?
I laughed out loud at that one, it was a classic National Lampoon type moment when he did it.

Not really, but then dual shock has always been a staple of the Metal Gear Solid series. They haven't really taken it forward since the very first game tbh though. Its not like they could do more with it anyway.Last edited by SuperBeatBoy; 12-06-2008, 21:59.

Alright im about 13hrs into the game, think im going to take a break now. The game is outstanding, the whole thing. I know its nearing the end now but still its fantastic stuff. Cutscenes in this game are beyond belief - this isn't just as good as films - its BETTER than films. Frankly unless the ending is terrible - this has been the best MGS game I've ever played and I'd argue its in the top 5 games of all time for me.
Minor spoiler ahead: I've now progressed passed where all the trailers have shown - so what I thought was the end was just the start haha ^^. Awesome stuff.

How I laughed at Akiba in Act One.
Imagine my surprise when fighting the
FROGS
to find one of them had knocked him clean out and he's slumped face forward, sticking his arse in the air for all to view the
big ****ty stain on his trousers - complete with flies buzzing around it
It was between the bit where he says he can't hold it during the fire fight and the cutscene where they all notice, so that means that somewhere between those points he must have messed himself. In real-time
Awesome.

soft, soggy box and the tough, bulletproof metal drum
. A real passing of the torch moment
I just did the fight against the
Frogs
, which was a real showpiece for how much better the controls are. That would never have worked as well in the previous games, and the closest analogy I can come up with is the battle with the
Ocelot Unit
in MGS3, which was clunky and awkward by comparison. I did have to repeat most of it because
Meryl
walked in front of my when I was shooting in first person, but oh well. You can't have everything.
I think I'm beginning see how the storyline is linking in with MGS2 as well (
controlling Raiden as a test of using an AI to manipulate people through information -> using nanomachines to do it on an individual level in MGS4, hence the workout advert at the beginning as a way to get it into civilians
). It might yet make sense of that game!

I'm loving this, it plays so well and the graphics are the best I've seen this generation, it is SO polished!
I'm still not right into the story, but I love how it is tying up events places and people from all the previous games!

Don't read spoilers unless you are on Act 4 or have finished Act 4.
On Act 4 now and am still immensely enjoying the gameplay and all the cut-scenes. The cut scenes towards the end of Act 3 were superb and if you have played all 3 MGS games, dare I say, they will also be a tad bit emotional. Back to Act 4 though and the way it starts off just confirms what a legend/genius Kojima is!You start off
at Shadow Moses (you have to go there because Liquid is planning on using REX) but the Shadow Moses from MGS1 complete with PS1 graphics!
. It threw me back big time but I continued playing through anyway. You start
at the helipad bit just as you come up the lift (I'm sure you all remember that!) and you play until you sneak into a vent, then it cuts back to Old Snake in helicopter above Shadow Moses (back in MGS4 graphics now by the way) and alas it is just a little flashback.
AWESOME!
