I gave the external view a try and it did sound better then but I seem to have no control in that view.

Just tried my first challenge and started off in 16th place. Managed to get to 11th on the first lap to spin because I was over ambitious on one of the corners.

I'm cheating a bit though as I have to leave the racing line on at the moment.

If people are using the assists, the game is far more responsive without them so give it a go. I love the feeling of pulling out of a corner and going up a gear a little to early to make the rear end slide out if I've gone in to quickly. There's nothing better than the feeling of going into a corner behind a car then coming out of the other side and overtaking them because you've used the gears to your advantage.

Obviously, it all goes horribly wrong a little too often when I get cocky and over do it.

The opposition cars do pull out in front of you but it all seems a little random at the moment as they seem to be getting a "drive right in front of them" command irrelevant of what's going on around them. A couple of times I've been knocked off the track without them getting any punishment for doing it which is a little annoying.

I'm still loving the driving though!

Driving is great, have you tried a wet race in the drivers view - truly scary!

Agree with the assists, I started with none apart from ABS, then tried with them on and it does feel almost sterile, boring, put them back on and wahay the back end was twitching all over the place.

Found that faster times are available with them off though for racing now I tend to have both the other assists on low say at level 2 just to sop that back end flying out too much but still being able to powerslide and get a realistic feeling of driving.

Picked this up today.. S'damn hard eh!

edit: I think I must be missing something because I find it impossible to brake enough to get around corners, even when using all the assists!?!

Chirs, are you using the face buttons or triggers? The face buttons for some reason has sensitivity a bit messed up..or something. Even in Livery mode, you have to really press the buttons for them to register.

Picked this up yeasterday evening, really like it, did the first three Ferrari Challenges and won each round, gave up on qualifying as couldn't get off the back of the grid anyway. Still playing with the assists on at moment though.

Sure it saves are every race - the spinning brake disc is a nice was to show it's saving.

Graphically not the best ever and the odd stutter on some corners/when there are a lot of cars on screen. Car sound is very good when cranked up and you turn off the music.

Triggers for accelerate and brake are a must.

Oh and can't seem to get better than about 76% in the tutorial \o/ will have to revisit that now had a bit of time to play.

The ratings bit of online leaderboard is how closely you stay on the racing line etc I believe. But don't quote me on that.

I was using the face buttons hoolak, which could explain it! I'll give it another go with the triggers later.

edit: Or maybe I won't. Just remembered I used the triggers on Motorstorm and it gave me chronic hand cramp. Good ole' Playstation controllers eh.

Tried the triggers at the start a la' Forza on the Xbox but was all fingers and thumbs so went to standard GT layout.

Not had any problems with the face buttons at all, on a separate point, not sure if this is co-incidence or not but my selection button is 'O' (which is standard in Jap games) on my Jap console just wondering if it automatically maps to 'X' on the Euro consoles.

Would agree with John Parry on the lack of polish in the menu's and various sections, some of the things aren't explained properly, in particular the vinyl shop, after I've put down a second vinyl I cannot then edit it as the cursor jumps to either the first one or the blank one next to it.

Shame there isn't a forum on the System 3 FC site, there is a big thread on the game here though and sure someone will be able to help you out (you need to register)

Just been checking the official site, looks like there will be 25 more cars and 2 tracks to come if the coming soon place holders are anything to go by.

Just stuck this on. Cant say Im really with it for gaming today as still got heavy drugs in my system but Ive been glued to it for 3hours. It looks like a PC game circa 2002, very ISI style graphics (uses on GTR) with some nicer lighting but its very hi res texture looking with no umph. Theirs quite abit of tearing and some slowdown but its not game breaking.

Only downsides I can find are average graphics, the crash damage is cosmetic and the crash sound is basically two tesco trollys smashing into each other and the cockpit view is too far back to be able to see properly (needs a POV adjuster) so I have to play in bonnet camera.

Game plays like a dream though. Very PC sim/arcade so in console terms sim lol Id say for console on next gen its the furthest we have had to a sim and its got some great car physics for understeer/oversteer and body shifting with weight for traction etc... If you play it turn all the aids off for TCS etc.. though as its terrible with them all on. It works perfectly on joypad even with the aids off so worth it (works fine using triggers for accel and brake). Game takes abit to get used to with the physics as its no GRID stop on a dime and turn you have to get used to transferring your weight into and out of corners and braking/accel at right times to help corner better.

AI seems pretty good even on what Ive played so far which is arcade challenge mode on beginner and inter. The more you race against them the more some of them will block the line or the corner.

So far Im very impressed with it as it has loads of modes to go thru.

Got an 8/10 feeling from early impressions

Hmm I seem to have got the hang of it now. Ranked 21 with 95.98%

edit: How do you enable Dual Shock rumble btw? I can't see any options for it?

You shouldn't need to enable it, I found it a bit weak in this game though.

I swear there must be something wrong with my Dual Shock (or my hands!). I feel absolutely no vibrating at all in this game, and very little in GT5P. Worked fine in Uncharted though
