longer play sessions really reveal this to be much deeper than it first appears.

i love the sprint, for some reason remind me of the original mario kart (obv no weapons) in that you realy need to learn the track and lines to win and can have a zen like level of control over your ATV when you nail a corner.

I think this is a great racer, probably the best out this year, thing is you do need to use the ATV designer to frequently upgrade your ride to be able to well in events.

Whilst its not exactly Forza or Gran Turismo this has a slightly schizo feel to it, it seems to be aimed at the casual end of the market but is actually a bit harder than that, especially once past the first coupe of events.

for me personally its perfectly pitched and what I like, not too easy and not some nerd fest, be interesting to see how well it does.

I have built three machines so far.

SPAGMACHINE: which I upgraded with parts I had won as I went through each championship mode. Its a really solid machine, but has very low trick stats - handling is amazing though and the boost is SICK!!1

BACK IN BLACK: which I used the 'we shall select the best part for you, you n00b' option on. Pretty average across the board and a bit dull as a result.

CUNNING STUNT: which I selected the best pieces for a machine that would kick arse in the freestyle events. The air you can get out of this one is insane but with that comes the need to have good landing skills - it will often try and roll forward after the touchdown bounce calling for lots of correction to avoid stacking it, tricky if you are landing into a turn.

I hope this game has enough casual appeal to sell bucket loads, would love a sequel with a map editor...and more songs next time please...

I think critically it's been a success, but obviously that doesn't mean didly squad without sales to back it up, so hopefully people will read the reviews and decide to pick it up, especially with it being a bit cheaper than standard RRP. Fingers crossed for a sequel.

It's without a doubt one of my top games of this half of the year.

Would have thought that as refreshing.

Completed all tours in 1st place last night and that's your lot I guess there's achievements to whore for but it would have been nice to have mirror tracks open up or SOMETHING! Great game, just want more.

Sequel: More tracks, variable weather and a little more variation.

Had no trouble joining online matches either, plenty of people playing. That's an area that need's work though, come 1st and your waiting for the other racers to finish. All your left to look at is the rank screen overlaying your rider driving on automatic. That get's boring.

I had a quick play with the final version yesterday and was thoroughly impressed. It looks gorgeous and frequently descends into madness on the tracks that cross each other over. That first track with the massive jump and all the splits in the track was an amazing way to throw you into it.

My only complaint so far is how bloody annoying the character voices are. I turned those down to zero in the options immediately, but you still have them silently gesturing at you at the start of the race

Found this Q&A with one of the developers:

He mentions DLC and a sequel. It's a recent Q&A so get some questions in!

Just watched one of the tutorials and discovered that you can front and backflip your machine by tapping the stick >_< I really should read the manual Only managed to land a double back flip so far but it felt GOOD!!

the backflips really highlight the risk/reward thing in this, so tempting to try and pull them as they look really cool but keep landing my rider on his head by attempting them at the wrong time.

gonna repeat myself but the handling in this really is a joy, it feels so precise.

bit poncey but everytime it turns on the message 'pure utilises an autosave ...' flashes up, I catch this out the corner of my eye and think the console has flipped languages to french and is saying 'pour utilisation ...'

Had a play around yesterday with some other characters (had been exclusively Suzi up till then) and the Japanese fella's Special 'Blind Faith' is wicked

Still not reach Class A Machines, but took great pleasure in beating some Class A's online with my Class D banger.

this game is a real treat, Pure (pun intended) fun all the way

I thought the ATV setries lost its way a bit, but the team have done well here, hell, it even kept me off COD4!

Got a strange achievement pop up last night, I completed Stage 8 and earned enough points to unlock Stage 9 - "Achievement Unlocked 2 for 1 - 40G" when I hit the dash button for an explanation it just should me the list with the Level Complete and Level Unlocked achievements. I've checked online and there is no single achievement listed for 40Gs, however the sum of these two achievements is 40Gs (30Gs for Completing Stage 8 and 10Gs for unlocking Stage 9) - I guess they just used one pop up instead of two?

Also, how cool are some of the later tracks, the

                        snow level

                        was a nice surprise!

Visually, yes, but it's initially really hard to see which direction the track is going in on some of them, which is pretty criminal.

Other minor niggles for me include the disney characters, all those licensed parts and the fact that crashing in a "race" is far too forgiving. Also why do so many devs get away without adding split-screen these days?

Niggles aside though this is a solid 8/10 and I really like it. It looks stunning, 16 racers = win, and it plays like SSX on quadbikes.

One major tip for new players though, set up a trick bike and a race bike, from scratch, as soon as you can. I used one bike for ages because I'm a lazy sod and was hating the Freestyle, before I realized sacrificing some speed and handling for trick points makes such a difference.
