The demo did rock, that was just a sample
So glad I picked this up fully game goes into more crazy jumps and stunts, customise parts are really cool too. 3rd track, the sand track was like oh yeahhhhh pulling tricks off every jump, also have to say the soundtrack is brilliant too.
Really enjoyable game and good fun, well worth getting.

Good to read some favourable impressions and I'd still love to buy it (utterly broke). Still, it does amuse me Edge actually marked it down because they thought it wasn't over the top enough. I think I agree, a little - if it really was SSX 3 on quads I'd have bought it by now. Still on the list, though... just WipEout will have to do at the moment.

Finished first in all race, sprint and freestyle events yesterday. The last batch really forced me back into the garage to find the perfect set up for some of the sprints. 'Uncle Spaggles Wagon' is one fast bastard!! Now to focus on the remaining achievements - need to do some work on a stunt quad me thinks...

What's the longevity like? Will online keep it alive? Or is it a play-through once and enjoy it kind of game?

think it depends on your skill level,I've put about 5-6 hours in and only half way thru single player, plus its gettting tougher.

i'm probably not very good though as not acing everything fist time ike ome.

for me its the best racer this year by far.

Picked this up yesterday after positive comments on here and have spent a couple of hours yesterday and today on it and already I'm bored senseless of it!

I really can't believe how simplistic the controls are for the actual driving and just how similar each of the tracks feels when you play them. I suppose it's fair to call the driving arcadey but I'm thinking childlike is perhaps more accurate due to how simplistic it is.

Maybe it's just the PS3 version but why the hell is there a constant smear on the screen? To be fair, the vistas look nice when you launch from a plateau but when you're on the ground it looks bland.

The trick system works well but seems to be an almost direct copy of SSX's trick system from 8 years ago.

This has had some decent reviews online I really am really struggling to understand why. Does it start to get any better after about half way through the career mode?

When I first played the demo I thought it felt like a budget release and that I'd wait until it was down to about ?15/?20 and I think if I'd stuck to my original plan I'd perhaps be a little more forgiving of the games flaws as it really feels like a budget title to me.

A lot of people have enjoyed it and I'd never try to tell people otherwise but I've been really disappointed after all the good things I'd read about this. There's a few games coming out shortly which I'm interested in so at least I've got this to use as a trade against something else.

I was bored senseless after the first couple of levels. I had this and wipeout hd at the same time. I never went back to it. Soooo, i traded mine in today as it was taking up space.

I can't see this being remembered fondly after Motorstorm 2 hits shelves.

                    LOL!1

So the bitter battle to get the last 8 achievements continues, swung into second place just behind the race leader loads last night after starting from the back of the pack - so close. The challenge wont let me move on though, I have to do it!!!

I completed this simple, shallow, repetitive and incredibly frustrating game in way less than 10 hours and will never go back to it. I completed the World Tour 100% which was a painful experience as the game gets frustratingly hard at times - the spikes are totally borked. Interestingly the difficulty curve is much friendlier on PS3 and makes it the better platform for the game (yes, I have played both)

There is potential for a decent sequel, but the game for now is just too simple and basic to warrant a keep and only just justifies a buy (if cheap) over a quick rent or borrow. Shame.

The great thing about Pure is that it grows with you. As you play through the game you only touch on what it has to offer but you continue to learn tricks and routes.

I've been playing pretty much solidly since release and I'm still discovering new combos and routes all the time. When you are able to pull off 500k+ combos that take up 80% of a lap it's a totally different game again.

I don't quite understand what people mean when they say it's shallow. There's a bucket load of tracks, about 100 different routes round each one, about 60 different moves per character, freestyle, race and sprint modes. The handling and the use of when not to jump, boost, trick etc. is so deep.

This game really isn't about holding down the right trigger and knocking out tricks all over the place. If you know how to drive the quads you can win race events using no boost or tricks and in some cases this is almost the quickest way to get round the track.

Making the right jump/boost/glide at the right time is critical. The actual racing reminds me a lot of excitebike 64. It really isn't about doing the biggest jumps off the biggest ramps all race.

THIS! Been trying for the second combo achievement and slowing etching out a path of jumps that I can get to in time, even taking in bits of track that aren't actually official jumps with a basic trick just to keep it all going. As you mention, you can ignore the depth to it and just ride around the tracks, but there is substance if you wish to explore it.

Using those little bumps is the key to the massive combos.

3 Achievements to go, this will be the first game I have 1000G'ed, had some amazingly tense Sprint races online last night and new routes are still appearing (being shown to me by Paulos). I have to say that at the moment its my fav game this year. LBP and Gears2 may put an end to all that though...

Was cracking fun online yesterday with Spags, ROC and Orgun. The six event sprint championship (ten laps per sprint) was awesome.

I really enjoyed the single player too. So much so I completed it twice!
