Recently returned to the game after a bit of a hiatus, and continued to plough through the Campaign modes. Been finding it consistantly easy until I reached Meltdown, things have suddently gotten difficult, enemy craft are actually aggressive with their weapons, the races are so much faster that they have to include an extra lap... things are just on another level now, suddenly!

I bit the bullet and installed the update as I read they have fixed the freezing problem.

The badge rewards are a great addition to the online mode (rank seems kind of pointless), however the actual racing online has gotten worse. It's impossible to do a race now without it sporadically freezing up for about half a second. People are speculating that this is caused by others joining the lobby after the game has started, and spectator mode exacerbates it when someone switches to view your ship. Also, mines seem to last forever now which makes them a HUGE pain in the arse, they are literally everywhere after a couple of laps. I preferred it before.

On the plus side I didn't notice the handling changes that may or may not have been implemented. Zone mode looks different, it kind of glows in a way it didn't before and the colour change is a little more flashy.

On a personal note I feel like a beginner again.. really frustrating that none of what I learned when pursuing the platinum seems to have stuck. Hopefully it's just cos I'm in 'Outrun mode' with racing at the moment and I'll eventually get back in the groove

Yep, they cocked it up well and proper... only consolation is it's such an obvious problem that they will no doubt be working on a fix for when the DLC comes around.

It's obvious they care a lot about the game or they wouldn't have added so much to the online mode in the first place.

There is now a 1.40 update. No information about it in the news but I played online all morning and didn't once get a freeze, although the room I was in was mostly full so that's not conclusive.

I'm sure this will sort some of the issues people have had though.

After extensive play I think the online mode has much improved. There are still problems... mostly with weapon pads not functioning and barrel rolls being very hit or miss (I couldn't pull off the roll on the Chenghou drop which is probably the easiest in the game, and then on Ubermall I swear I had the stick dead neutral, didn't move it at all and suddenly a barrel roll popped out). It's almost like my control inputs were lagging or something.

However - the simple fact that you can always see races in progress has massively revitalised the online mode for me. Before it always seemed like a ghost town which would lead me to log off and not bother waiting, but now I know there is racing to be had. 1.40 has removed the glitches (and the everlasting mines) so this is the best it's been IMO. In addition the ranks/badges seem to have encouraged people not to drop out, so every day this week I've had the luxury of race after race in full lobbies.

I'm getting to know names too - there are a few people I'm always having close races with... but there is also the "super-elite" who live, breathe, eat & sleep wipeout that leave me trailing around the back like a venom pilot in the wrong room, lol.

Every time I finish a position or two ahead of one of those guys I feel quite proud, winning is usually out of the question.

13 new trophies have appeared in the PSN profile for this, so Fury must be coming very soon!

All of them are bronze, and unless I'm mistaken they are all offline trophies too (certainly they all mention doing things in a single player event). I'm really happy about that

Hi everyone! This is Zico Liu, programmer on WipEout HD; you all might remember me from the "Beat Zico" trophy. Before I talk about what I've been up to on the WipEout HD Fury expansion pack I would just like to let you know that the pack will be available from PlayStation Store on Thursday [...]

Confirmation of release next week and ?7.99 price point (Which is $13... and it's going to be on the US store for $9.99. ).

EDIT: No idea why I moved this thread...

Stoked for this DLC, but I was kind of hoping for Wipeout 2097 tracks. Valparaiso and Gare 'D Europa are my faves.

The 2.00 patch is available, I've had a look at the statistics option and there is so much detail in there! It's retroactive too so I can see most of the information about what I have played so far. Some numbers seem a little screwy (have I really spent 971 hours in the air? lol) but others are very interesting.

Those chasing Transcendence in the future will be happy as it now shows your arcade perfect progress and also how many online kills you have made, something that was sorely missing when we were going for it.

Other than cosmetic changes to the ship select screen they have vastly improved barrel roll execution in online mode - I never failed to execute a single one cos of laggy responses, good stuff!

@saturn-gamer - Me too, I'd kill for a 'classic pack' of sorts. Stick on the 2097 HUD and it may as well be a proper remake!

I use the 2097 hud all the time. Its the Wipeout game I played most so the weaps pictures make sense. I didn't really like the new one.

But since the update my game seems to lock up alot in the server screens. I might have to check into that, reinstall or something.

Considering they hover, arent the vechicles in Wipeout ALWAYS in the air?

Yeah - It actually means the amount of time your ship has 'left the track'

                                Fury today at last!

Does anyone know what time the UK PSN is updated? I heard someone say roughly 2-3pm, anyone know if this is true?
