Only put an hour or so into Fury so far. My main attraction to this was the new tracks so just been attempting to get to grips with those in Single Races in Racebox (Rapier, Skilled). Not sure if it was being out of practice (been months since I last played) or not being fully aware of the tracks (only Modesta Heights seemed slightly familiar) but my attempts were far from smooth and it took a far few retries to get any first place finishes.

None of the new race modes sound particularly appealing (always found the combat aspect of WipEout to be to the detriment of it’s superb racing) but everything else feels like a great update. Some of the new music is perfect for the game and I was really surprised to see that the new Fury campaign contains 8 stages of events again. Was expecting it to be shorter than that.

Fury content has its own section so you don't need to progress through the standard HD stuff to play it.

Actually put a couple of hours into it last night and have to say the new modes have not impressed me at all.

Eliminator was tolerable but Zone Battle I just did not understand what was going on at all. I spent a few minutes racing along in last place getting nowhere, bored by this point I hit Square to see if anything happens and I shot into first place and 5 seconds later I'd won the race.

The most fun I had with Detonator was trying to get the Hold Your Fire trophy as it helped get me back into the swing of things.

Love the new tracks and music though so don't regret dropping the ?8 on this.

Haha that's exactly how it was with my first zone battle too.. it fell into place a couple of races later but it's still not my favourite mode either.

I imagined it would be something like comparing the limits of how fast you could go, and they almost nailed that, but the inclusion of the barriers just messes up the whole purity of zone mode. I don't want to be dodging obstacles, I want to see how far I can go before the insane speeds get too much. If the experience was shared with someone else it could have been awesome. That's why I quite enjoyed the 2 player session with doodledude, because there weren't that many barriers being dropped and it was just a competition between us.

One thing about the new zone tracks though is that the Zone Zeus trophy has just been made a hell of a lot easier - Syncopia is great for reaching the higher zones. In fact I think Transcendence has been made easier overall because rumours suggest you can use the new enhanced Piranha to beat Zico.

Detonator is my favourite of the new modes but it's not really Wipeout.

We still have 'true' Transcendence though

I really like the new modes adds a great variety to the game. Didn't get into the eliminator mode on the PSP pulse game but I appreciate it more on the bigger screen.

I don't know why they added the enhanced vehicles without doing it to all of them. As it now makes them redundant even though their livery is nicer they don't ride as well so people aren't going to choose them.

Still only on the 3rd campaign so have a fair bit to go in this.

Detonator mode reminds me of Rez

Did you install the downloaded add on?
Did you get an update prompt to Wipeout 2.0 as well?

Like I say on the xmb I can see the fury background and videos but nothing in game?
I checked the info on the dash and it says vers 1.20 is this correct?

Sorry about that, Darwock. Honest mistake.

For my money this is probably the best piece of DLC I've ever played. Utterly superb. Eliminator and Detonator are outstanding - just beat my first Detonator on Elite the other day (as in 14/14) and my God was that a rush. Nothing on XBLA comes close to the sheer adrenaline high of tearing round the track on stage 14 with some hard house on the custom soundtrack and triggering an almighty chain reaction off a bomb just as the breakdown kicks in.

Phantom still remains practically unplayable for my poor atrophied reflexes (race, Eliminator, just about anything) but oddly I'm still getting a little better at Zone. I'll never get that many trophies, but the pure enjoyment from simple play - pissing about online, speed laps, scratching away at harder and harder golds - is matched by very, very few other games in my mind. Glorious.

To what extent is swearing allowed in these forums? Because, Jesus f'ing wept, if they're going to insist on making combat so prominent in standard races, get the ruddy balance sorted so that players don't get consistently eliminated, even when using every single pick-up as a health boost.

That Aftermath tournament is going to be the death of me.

Gaaaaah. I need a swear jar.
