Anyone got the Airbraker trophy yet?

I've managed to get up to zone 43 on Anulpha Pass just using the airbrakes.

Was very sloppy at the end. Got to zone 45 then really started panicking and was all over the place but luckily I'd done well enough before that point that I had most of my energy intact.

Was very close though. Literally destroyed myself as I hit zone 50.

Wow, well done mate - you're the only 'real person' I know who has achieved that one so far. I reckon the zone stuff will be the last thing I ever do, it's way too daunting.

About what you said before, about the racing - I don't exactly agree that it's weak when it comes to the full races, but the inconsistency of the elite AI is starting to bug me. Like, one race I'll be doing a terrible job of getting round the track, whacking walls and getting shunted around by competitors, yet I'll sneak in to the top 3 (with a lousy overall time). Next game I can go absolutely balls to the wall, turn in several perfect laps with a decent number of boosts.. get a new personal record and somehow still finish in a distant 8th place. It seems like the AI has off-days, so winning the race mostly depends on their off-day and my on-day happening at the same time!

I take it you're trying for the Elite Campaign Legend trophy? I'm trying to pace myself on that and working through the Campaign Tournmanets/Single Races at skilled difficulty first. Done all except the final Phantom class set. After that, I'll up it to Elite.

Does that mean not using the direction buttons then just airbrakes?
if so that sounds well hard

Yes. Airbrakes only. You are allowed to Side Shift.

I'd say it's all but impossible to get to Zone 50 on anything but Anulpha Pass with this method.

Upgraded all my Best results on Campaign Single Race and Tournament events to 'Gold (Skilled). Final Phantom Tournament was tricky (as expected). Chengou Project kept catching me out then I managed to get a win due to a fortunate set of first lap weapons and then got all wins on the races after that. Real heart in mouth stuff on Sebenco Climb and Sol 2 though.

Need to up it to Elite now.

Having spent the last couple of days doing Elite Single Race and Tournament events I'd kind of agree with this. It feels like I need the sequence of events in races to totally go in my favour if I am to win.

If the weapon pads are kind to me on the first lap (Nitro, Quake, Rockets etc.) I can keep up and fight my way through the pack. But if the items are less useful to get out of 8th place (Mines, Bomb, Shield) I can still be struggling to get beyond 7th place by the end of the second or third lap. Also, if I do manage to pull ahead I need to hope the AI racers don't go on a murderous rampage and pummel me too badly.

This isn't too bad for Single Races. If things don't go my way I can hit Restart Race and try again. Not too bad (except it raises the question am I actually winning because I'm good or because events went in my favour) but in a Tournament, stringing wins together only to have a race where I was things weren't so kind is frustrating.

I will get Elite Campaign legend trophy though!!!

It's the first thing that has actually driven me away from the game a little bit - Chenghou Project on Elite is just murderous... you can't afford to batter the walls at all and I still don't know how to do that track without doing so.

Well I have had to relax my achievement aim with this slightly. I normally only class a Tournament as complete when I win every race but Elite is just making that too difficult. Last night I attempted the four race Venom tournament in Head Rush many times and kept getting to the final race on Sol 2 and ending up in 3rd/4th. Picked up Gold as I won the previous 3 races but just couldn't string four wins together.

Not really liking Elite difficulty. Skilled was a nice balance of challenge and sense of satisfaction but Elite is just unfair. I'm sure I'll get all Gold (Elite) medals but I won't go back to Elite after that.

Problem seems to be that the AI is just plain faster than you on Elite. I don't mean they tackle the course more efficiently. In fact, for most courses the only way to win is take the corners better (Moa Therma, Metropia etc.) or rely on Barrel Rolls (Vineta K, Chengou Project). But on the straights they clearly go much faster. At first I thought this was because I was using Feisar (which I admit is a slow ship) but I switched to Pirahna to test (full speed rating) and sure enough on the straights they were still clearly edging ahead of me.

Finally managed to Gold all the campaign levels last night, after a particularly tough Vineta time trial.

From what your saying I don't think I'll attempt the Elite opponents anytime soon though.

Just online and time trials from now on until they release some more content for it!

I think we ought to arrange an online match to unlock that trophy if we have enough people who have unlocked them.
