I don't think I have played it enough to give impressions on every mode but here goes anyway! Most of you have played the demo anyway so you pretty much know what the game plays like, so I won't go into too much details about that yet.
I mainly purchased this game for the online and offline multiplayer (mostly online though) so I immediately went straight for the "network" mode. As sson as you go into the mode you are asked to register or enter your Konami/Game ID which will used as your log-in details for the games online mode. I should think if you created one of each for MGO then you can enter in those details but I forgot those ones so just created new ones which took about 5 minutes!
After all of the faffing around with the ID's is done you are then into the "network" mode proper. There are a list of servers which you can choose to play one, they are all region based. You have English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Portugese, German and any. Once you choose one of those you then choose from one of the lobbies available in that server and then are sent into the lobby screen. From here you can see all the players that are in the lobby, if they are playing a match or are free and so on. There is also a lobby chat function so you can send those oh so polite "anyone want a game?" messages, lol! To get a game going you can choose the quick match option (which does what is says on the tin!) or you can select the match room option which allows you to create your own room or join someone elses. There is also another option here which is called game status which lists all the matches currently in progress and their scores, nice little way of spying on people!
As you would have probably gathered by now the online mode is a bit more "detailed" that previous PES games, it might be a little "overwhelming" at first for the usual PES people but shouldn't it take too long to get used to!
I have played 3 onlines games (won them all!) so far and well they have all had lag. It is not as bad as the game crippling lag that existed in PES 2008 but it is still very noticeable. There is the occassional delay of a second or so for button presses, so if I press pass the player will pass about a seond later after I pressed the button. There is very little of the teleportation problem that plagued the previous game but there still have been one or instances. I will say that there was a message from Konami when you enter the network mode that the servers won't be properly up until the 16th and that 2 out of the 3 players I played had a red connection so I am willing to give Konami a chance til the 16th!
From the two new modes, Become a Legend and Champions League, I have only played the latter so far and have to say Konami have really pushed it with that license. Everytime you go into the CL (tournament or exhibition) game (tournament or exhibition) you get a short offical clip that plays, with the dramatic "CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMPIOOOOOOONS" music and all. During the games you also have the scoreline banner which is done all Champions League style plus all the official advertising hordings, like I said they really have gone all out!
Offline gameplay wise the game plays pretty well, I think it is a game that will grow on people the more they play it. I thought the demo was pretty average when I played it a couple of times but then I played a few more games and I got more into it. It is certainly not as realistic or as fluid as FIFA 09 but it still plays a decent game of football. I think we have two good football games this year, some will just prefer one over the other.
