I like my 360 more than the PS3 - which is why I wanted that version, but if the PS3 online is far more busy, it makes it more attractive.

The PC version has received good feedback. I might get that - and it's cheaper.

Thanks for all the advice. I will have to make up my mind.

Another problem im having with this is I pass to players and somtimes they seem to sidestep out of the way and let the oposition nick the ball, its so easy to win games becuase the oppenent A.I. is pretty useless but your teamates rarely help matters either.

Also, somtimes when playing as Man United I'm finding it incredabley hard to get Ronaldo to get far enough foward if the ball is already on the right, where as in real life he would probabaly bomb it into the middle waiting for a cross here he seems to hang back in my deffence. Its kinda frustrating when your best attacking player wont attack for half the match to be honest.

If you're having problems with having certain players going forward and haven't/can't be bothered to sort it out via the formation options, try using the pass and move command. I've found this technique works a lot more in this version. I've seen player make runs for 40 yards. It helps that the through balls are massively improved too.

For example, Ronaldo has the ball on the wing in the centre of the field with a full back behind him in space to help out, try pressing pass whilst holding L1/LB. Ronaldo will lay the ball off and dash up the field. You could then try an over the top through ball... or not. I find this can work wonders anywhere when attacking. You can create some nice new space as you can take unwanted defenders out of your path with the runner etc.

Love this game, such an improvement on last years weak effort, but I'm only 3 achievements short of the 100G on PES6 and 100G short on PES2008, so I think I'll be completing them before I move onto this properly. PES6 should be done by friday and 2008.... God knows when. Still got 291 games to play, finish off all the leagues and do the master league. Should keep me occupied for a while!!!

Konami accidently made the 1.20 patch go live today on PSN for a short while before it was removed. There's currently a message on the PS3 version when you log onto the servers saying how people who downloaded the update will find they won't be able to play people with the older version (1.10). Konami say that info on the new patch will be released soon.

Those who have managed to get it have found Liverpool and Man Utd to now have their CL hird kits in CL mode. Squad rosters updated. New teams (mainly little teams). 4 more La Liga teams licensed.

Also, there are bizarre reports about a zombie Bendtner!?!?! For halloween??? lol

Was downloading the new patch mandatory? I downloaded it last night.

Only if you want to play other online as the difference in versions will conflict. Mind you, when it's officially released when it's supposed to come out, I'd delete the patch from the Game Utility section and re-download it in case there's any subtle differences. As far as I'm aware, any Edit Data you have on your PS3 should be safe anyways.

Thanks Hoolak. I deleted the 1.20..then it asked for 1.10 again, so i installed that and got one game in before a friend started texting.

I'm trying to only play legends online as the normal online game is broken in a different way this year. Seems Konami have tried to hide the visual lag with fancy netcode and that's worked, but have you tried controlling your defenders when you're being attacked? There is such a delay between your control and their response. I've read so many people on PES forums saying the same thing. Saying how they were defending legends in past PES, but now they let more goals in than a goalie without limbs.

Konami or WE dev team are failing in making this work online. They need to get people in or something, because it works fine in FIFA and lots of other sports games.

But yeah, if I see you online I'll send you a little message if I'm feeling brave

Early this morning they released the following patch info, found when logging onto the online. Then they say, "actually no, it's delayed again".

Status Update: Incomplete Patch accidentally released for PES 2009 We regret to inform you that owing to technical problems, an incomplete version
of the new update was released accidentally on 30/10/2008 between 00:30-09:30 (GMT).

We have since suspended the patch download, but will be making it available again
on 31/10/2008 at 10:00 (GMT). The new additions include:

1) 2 new features "Replay Upload" and "Theatre of Legends" for Legends Mode.
2) A new Download feature in the System Settings, used for updating various game data.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
* Please note that both "Replay Upload" and "Theatre of Legends" will not be selectable until 5/11/2008.
* Unless you update the game by selecting "Download" from Systems Settings, you won't be able to
play against customers who have already applied the update.
* Customers who have implemented the wrongly released patch between 00:30-09:30 (GMT) on 30/10/2008,
will need to update their games again.

We would like to apologize for any inconveniences caused and hope that you can make the most of the new features

Wahey! Not content with making a hash of the netcode, they seemingly decide to give us the runaround with the patch as well. Excellent.
