I don't really think you can compare them to be honest. It'd be like comparing Lost Odyssey to Gears, they're trying for different themes. I love both of them, and this is my VERY close second for game of the year. I'm a big Gears of War fan, and now also quite a big Dead Space fan

I didn't "have" to switch at all Just got the achievement for finishing the game with solely the plasma cutter on hard last night.

    Near ending spoilers:

I never saw the whole kendra betrayal thing coming to be honest,

I don't know if that's because I played this game VERY slowly, probably the slowest I've ever played a game I love this much. It's taken me nearly 3 weeks to complete my first play through. Granted I've had tonnes of other games to play, but still. I wanted to take my time with this one

I thought the whole Nicole thing was kinda obvious. She wasn't going to survive in that place for very long, I still nearly jumped out of my chair when she jumps on you at the end! I was expecting something to be behind but not her.

Very rare for me lately, I sat last night for around 2 hours and played through the first 3 chapters on hard again for no particular reason. This game's just so damn fun. Oh, you steam roll them on hard once the plasma cutter is upgraded and you've started again .

Think I'm guna run through this on hard again to collect up the rest of the diarys then go on impossible

    SPOILER ALERT....

Its prob old news, but if you take the letter of each chapter and put them together, you get a message. ill leave that you...
I just looked at them all, that's quite smart. I do wonder who finds these things though I didn't pay attention.

And for the guy they bring back to the planet

I think that's the guy I got the audio log for that I missed on first play through. It says something about him starting to pull his teeth out and he runs into a wall. If it's the same guy.

I have been playing this for about an hour a night, but yesterday I started at Chapter 7 and had to drag myself away at the end of Chapter 10, some 4 hours later!

The lull at chapter 6 is acient history, the game has really picked up again and I am having so much fun!

I love the puzzels, they often feel so large scale and very Sci FI!

The meteor puzzle had me stuck for a while

and then I just thought, sod it, I'm going to try and walk outside. Brilliant.

I'm currently only running 2 guns as I've had to sell the others to raise funds for ammo. I'm 10,000 creds away from a level 5 suit too, but finding it hard to get the cash.

I think when a good game is made with some of your favourite game influences, and the subject matter reflects your favorite film matter, then it's no surprise many of us have been digging this!

I really don't want it to end though. Only a few hours to go I guess.

Went from Chapter 6 to 9 last night. I really wish I had started to use Stasis earlier on.......Very handy and loads of fun. That and powering up your Plasma Cutter early doors now seems like a no brainer.......Live and Learn I guess.

Capcom: Yeah that puzzle got me for a bit as well, very well done though.

Up to chapter 7 on my 2nd play through. Unlocked all the weapon achievements, now my next main one is to max out all equipment, just need around another 10 nodes and that'll be done and dusted. It's amazing how easy it is when you're not rationing ammo and have weak armour and weapons, I managed to do the

          leviathan

in well under a minute this time, compared to 10-15 minutes on the first attempt. I feel proper powerful, showing those necromorphs the back of my hand occasionally

Just on Chapter 2 at the moment. Superb game. One of the best features is the objective finder - a Godsend for me (I can get lost in a Kirby game). Within 50 years we'll all have these embedded in our palms: "Head to Tesco to purchase cottage cheese... wife called - new objective added: rawl plugs at B&Q..."

Managed to get the maxed out achievement last night and picked up the

shooting gallery, z-baller, slugger and peng

achievements on the way. 45 out of 48, not bad going for me. I am now done with this, I don't think my nerves could take much more

I'm right at the beginning of chapter five on this now. Chapter four was awesome, but I'm really starting to become ammo constrained, to the point where I've even bought ammo (Which I never thought I'd do - fortunately most of it's funded by selling the other ammo which I'm not using). It's doing its job though, because I'm now starting to look to the environment for ways to take them down.

I took out the first couple of

I finished the game yesterday. What a superb experience. I support TBM's review of 9/10 completely. This game was so much fun for a Sci-Fi Horror fanboy like me. I love the cheese!

I thought the ending was great too, can't understand the hate.

Anyway with the monster you mention, just remember that with correct use of stasis and the right attack/secondary attack, all monsters can be dealt with fairly quickly. If you are using 6-7 shots on something, then you need to change your tactics. I won't spoil how.

After I finished (12hours 30min, a perfect length for me) I found myself taking advantage of the old school

                  replay modes

and before I knew it I was up to Chapter 2 again and LOVING IT! (

                  level 6 suit

is toooo cool! It could be something from Portal!)

I have a large number of games to play now, so I don't know if I'll be picking this up again for a while, but I can't see me selling it yet. The world is just too damn cool, and the combat too damn fun!!

I also must just say about the Boss fights. The days of me being prepared to use 2 hours to beat a Capcom boss pattern are now far behind me. Dead Space doesn't pretend to be a "Hardcore" game, and I think the fact that the Boss battles were quite easy (On Normal) was really OK for me. When I play a game on "Normal" I don't expect difficulty spikes, so again this design worked really well.

I think this game was really innovative in many ways, the UI is the best I have seen in a game and really took the Doom3 influence and ran with it. I think the idea of having to use combinations of Powers and Guns to deal with enemies in the best fashion was genious and makes for great replay. Final thoughts of this great game, are the use of Music, Ambient Sounds, Lighting, Shadows and a tough inventory system all bring together a real feeling of being stuck on a spaceship with limited resources and a horror lurking around the corner.

The closest games to this I have played the past 12 months are: Bioshock, Dark Sector, Darkness and Mass Effect.

I had severe doubts that EA could pull this game off, but I stand surpirsed, impressed and very satisfied with their work.

I'm still experimenting. Remember I'm going through this with the Plasma Cutter only though, so I am restrained in the options that are available to me. Also I'm playing on hard, and the enemies require MUCH more ammo to take down. I had the Plasma Cutter fully upgraded by the end of chapter two on normal and I could take the regular enemies down in two shots every time (

One to the legs and the second to the head/shoulders

                    ).

I have been using stasis for the
, but they're taking a fair amount of damage even when I focus my attacks on the obvious weak spots.

Hey Capcom I reckon since your such a huge fan of this game you have to make your own replica armour suit using household items and post the pics on here. A bit like that mad Big Daddy one someone did.

It wasn't actually intended that way, I liked the weapon so much that I thought I'd see if it was feasible, then someone mentioned that there was an achievement/trophy for it so I thought I'd give it a try.

I'd probably recommend it for a play-through on normal though, but I'll be buggered if I'm going through those first three chapters for a third time.

Even though I haven't completed it yet this is definitely one of those games I could see me playing through a second time (Both this and Bioshock recently, which is ultra-rare). At least I should be able to do it with the best suit and the freedom to use whatever weapons I want to.

But that would take time away from the other games I've got stacked up!

Something I havent done in a very very long time and did with this game is play through more than once, 3 times actually!
First it's exploring the unknown and taking it easy with some loo roll beside you, next time your running around like a beefcake blowing legs and faces off. 3rd time if you do fancy the challenge of Impossible, it's tough but it felt worth it for the 150G/trophy
                              13 hours + 5 hours + 9 hours.
First game I have 1000G for a LONG time, I seriously enjoyed playing it each time, even though very liner it's just fun to blow limbs off alien muthas in a cool setting, Impossible play through makes you rethink taking anything on and gives you different strategy of playing. Will say those damn

Wall tenticle creatures swines that spout things and instant kill you if you get close, jesus those things were evil to kill!

Only frustration I had was those swines, not even the bosses on Impossible caused me that much trouble.

I honestly thought I'd bitten off more than I can chew with the way I'm playing this. I was so close to giving up in chapter five (Taking a little break then coming back after I've completed the next game and starting again on Normal) - in true gamer style I decided to give it one more try and I just ran like ****.

                                Got me through.

Now I'm a gibbering wreck. Screw

                                indestructible stalking Necromorphs

                                !
