Oh, it is massively cliched, and other than the vacuum segments barely has an original bone in its body - and I do still think this works against it sometimes *cough* turretsgrumblemumblegrumble *cough* - but overall, Dead Space is just so polished, so lovingly put together it rarely matters. And despite the lack of difficulty on Normal, even without the survival horror aspect it'd still be a really well orchestrated third-person shooter. Other than not being able to handle kinesis as a weapon I've got no complaints with the controls at all. The killcam views in particular are a joy - very, very rarely do they screw up and when they work (when you push something off you and get an automatic hit/kill in) it's visceral beyond anything most other games have ever accomplished.

What did everyone do with the suits on this game, out of curiosity? I have both the Obsidian and Scorpion suits (Both free) and I tried them out in the first store to see what they look like - but I can't go back to the other suits now it seems... is that right?

The Scorpion Rig looks awful, but the Obsidian Suit looks awesome. But as I'm exploring as I go (Looking for the schematics) I kind of want to upgrade the original suit along the way. I need to start again, don't I?

Also, if I add power nodes to the initial suit do they get carried over to an upgrade?

Power Node upgrades do carry forward to each new level of suit.

That's good to hear at least. As you level each suit, I assume you also increase the inventory? Because one thing I will miss about the Obsidian suit is the extra inventory.

Each level of the suit has more inventory space, yes. Also, I think the download (cheat) suits have increased armour over the regular model, so you may miss that, too...

I didn't try the Obsidian on my first playthrough because it was maxed out - I don't like anything that feels like a leg up I didn't earn. And that was the free early download - I'm not paying any amount of money for something as trivial as tweaked weapons or armour unless they're, I don't know, wildly visually different or something. More added than just flame decals, certainly.

As I said, once I tried them on I didn't seem to be able to go back to the original suit (Settled on the Obsidian suit after that as it has 10% armour instead of the 25% the Scorpion suit has... and the Scorpion suit looks totally out of line in the game as well). Played through most of chapter three now and I decided to check and see if I can change back (I like to earn things, and I want to see how the look of the suit evolves through the upgrades), but it doesn't look as though I can.

I'll start over tonight, not a problem.

I may be missing something about the Obsidian suit.
Is that the one for the PS3 version, which is in the style os a PS3, blue LEDs etc.
Only asking cause I thought you could upgrade the stats, inventory, air supply etc on that as well, just like the original suits.
Mind you I haven't played DS for a couple o' weeks now and was likely pissed when I did.

Yeah it's the PS3 exclusive one. You can upgrade health and air, but they're the only two tracks available.

Good. Since it's lvl5 I assume its' armour rating is better than a fully modded lvl4 suit.

I did look for a stat breakdown of all suits briefly last night but couldn't find any thing. The good thing about the extra inventory is that I easily maxed out my Plasma Cutter maxed because I could horde stuff, sell it all for the credits and just buy power nodes.

The free suits are not upgradable so dont use em their not the same as the normal level 5 suits and a serious con to use!

You can upgrade the health and air on them. Not sure what you can upgrade on the normal suits other than those two and inventory? I'm guessing the armour gets a boost when you go from level to level?

Im on about the suit not being upgradable not the modules inside. Modules inside the suit are the last thing you want to upgrade as you need to upgrade your weapons way before and the stasis by the time you have any free modules you will have been thru your first playthru and unlocked better suits that you just cannot use because you are locked to a rubbish level 5 suit all the way thru. Their a waste of time as if you use it you cannot upgrade again with the suits till you get to the end of first playthru and its only a level 3 suit with all the slots of level 5 so your going to be at a disadvantage half way thru the game. The armour is much less compared to the bought ones ie scorpion and equiv 360 is 25% (ie its a cheat to buy these) wheras the free ones its 10% A level 4 suit is 15% and level 5 is 20% which is double the free level 5 suit! And the military suit is 30%

lol Its not a biggie on medium but on hard onwards you need every bit of weaponary advantage you can get your hand on. Air is pointless as you never use it as theirs loads of drops or refills around and health you would only want to upgrade once you get the military. I did abit of standard pistol and then maxxed the stasis out on a restart on hard as got stuck and it saved me! Once you get the ripper it will save your life as well Also line gun is good as is the beam one the rest are pretty much waste of time on first playthru. Even on hard I basically used cutter and ripper.
