Well I am loving this. Played about 3 hours or so now and really enjoying it. Was quite overwhelming at first, this huge area and no idea where to start but once you get going in a quest, you learn the ins and outs of everything. I'm currently trying to find out what happened to my Dad, is that the main point of the story yeh?

    Came across a

    Super Mutant Behemoth

when trying to get to the radio station earlier and it was crazy. Luckily I found a

Fat Man and 8 mini nukes

for it shortly before off a dead Brotherhood soldier or something. First time I used it,

went right up to the mutant and just fired it point blank... not a good idea with a mini nuke!

Died instantly and had to go way back to where the last save was. Learned the next time though and stood further back! Love that weapon now!

I've now just met Three Dog and I'm

off to find a satellite dish for him

, wonder what scary stuff is waiting for me on this quest.

But to discuss the game itself now. Graphics first of all are fairly decent, nothing amazing but quite good considering the size and scale of the world! Just a pity about the loading times but I guess that couldn't be avoided, I wonder if the new 360 install option will speed them up much?

Loving the combat. VATS is so great, first time I heard about it, I thought it sounded and looked pish. I actually slated this whole game when I first heard about it from a mate like 2 weeks ago. Then he told me it was Bethseda so I looked into it and I'm so glad I did! Now do the action points always stay the same or can you level them up over the game too so you can do more at once in the VATS? I think I need to find some weapons dealers or shops though as I'm scrounging for ammo alot and fancy a good whack of bullets for the assault rifle!

I'm still a bit confused and not 100% sure what to do when levelling up, but I'm going with the flow anyway and seem to be managing fine, not sure what perks to choose though, I remember readying somewhere saying that some are pointless and shouldn't pick them.

So overall, it's an awesome game so far that seems just HUGE!

HUGE it is. And bliddy brilliant to boot, the Game of the Year for me this one is, even Gears of War 2 and fable 2 can't hold a candle to this masterwork.

Tip for those struggling with ammo, take the scrounger perk as soon as you can. I have so much ammo now I dont know what to do with it Might start selling some for caps lol, I sometimes get 20 missiles out of one ammo crate heh.

Or if you dont want to take that perk then Rivet city has a f*ck ton of ammo for sale

Sweet cheers, I will use the Scrounger next time then maybe!

          Question:

I have collected loads of scraps of junk throughout the day thinking that you can use it all to make stuff like new weapons, etc. I'm sure I heard that. Thought it was almost like Bioshock in that respect but I have no idea what to do with all the stuff I have found like lawn mowers blades, pilot lights, batterys, scrap metal, sensor modules, etc etc. What's the point of all that?

Also, I just picked up a

Stealthboy, giving Sneak +100 and Stealth Field +75

. I'm guessing if I use it, it will only last a certain amount of time and for one use only?

hah, I don't know why I decided to be the good guy again.

I don't think its wise to play a good guy in Fallout. You could do a little bit of both and get the most out of it, the game tempts you to do what you want. I've never played it like a good guy in the previous games, the characters in the world are mostly arseholes or completly over the bend.

"scrap metal" can be sold to the guy in megaton water treatment plant, the stuff like ashtrays is mostly garbage but some bits can be used to make weapons etc or as ammo for the rock-it launcher

I'm nearing the end of the game now, got the last main story quest to do and a few more sidequests and achievements. I have to say it's an amazing game, on of my favourites of this gen even, but I wish they would have put in stuff like customizing weapons, different classes to play as (I know you can customize your character using the perks but other than going full melee I don't see any significant changes) and no level cap.

But, even with these 'flaws' it still is a great game, very immersive.

Just completed this about 5 minutes ago. All I have to do now is finish the two quests I failed(Scientific Pursuits & Strictly Business) and then get the neutral/negative karma achievements.

                        More life gone....

Just found my first Pip Boy Toy, question: it stated that

it granted me +10 to medicine skill

, do I have to keep hold of it for that to stay in effect or can I drop it now?

Ah, well it doesn't weigh much so I guess I'll hold on to it for now, i haven't even

                              left the vault yet

. I take it the effect is gained once picked up and i can sling it anywhere now.
