I'm currently ploughing through this on co-op split screen, but may play online co-op at the weekend. Can anyone advise if I'm able to have separate save games for each? I don't want my online co-op campaign to overwrite my split screen session, obviously...

    Thanks in advance.

When you go to start the game, doesn't it show you 3 game save slots??

Yea it has 3 save slots you choose which one you want. When you finish a chapter your allowed to start on any of them you have done on a new save.

Graphically and sonically amazing, there is no doubting the power of the Unreal 3 engine.

The campaign was fun, but this type of gameplay all feels a bit old now even when its done this well. Move along a passage, come to a room that has some things to hind behind, ..commence fire-fight, complete, save, move along to next bit. They did manage to break it up a bit, but after playing stuff like Fallout 3, I couldnt help think its all too predictable, especially when you get the auto saves kicking in.

            Still a great experiance.

I got up to end of Act 4 last night. Been taking my time on it thru the weekend as kept having to stop with poor health yet again. Now Im a huge GOW1 solo fan. Ive beaten the single player/co-op over 20 times (gave up counting after 25) but up to end of Act 2 I thought it was good verging on great but a tiny bit of a letdown (and Ive not followed it as didnt want any spoilers). End of Act 2 I thought was pedestrian and I was already panicking I would finish it quick like the first one on 360 (PC you get 1/6th extra so its over 2hours longer). I have been panicking so much about the length I was up to that point quitting out to check where I got to (as its seamless now it doesnt tell you when you start a new act). Graphics I thought where GOW1 PC on Act 5 extra chapters ie 1.5 looked nicer but nowt special up to end of Act 2.

When I hit act 3 it all changed though yesterday. Graphics and gameplay go into overdrive and looking back now Im glad it slows down abit on act 2 because I was pretty exhausted when I left the last part of Act 4 to finish last night. Died loads on hardcore since act3 and I was complaining it was too easy up to that point. Mobs and team AI is fantastic now and every battle feels like the slog of the House on GOW1 on Act 4 from Act 3 on this onwards.

The whole thing now has exceeded my expectations and GOW2 is already going to move up to GOW1 game of all time status by looks of it on solo/co-op alone. Might not be anything new but it takes GOW1 and says to you ok fight 3 times as much but this time do it with more intelligent enemies lol I know Ive killed plenty as I dinged 800 mobs in achievment at Act4! Ive no worries about length either as its much bigger than GOW1 and soon as I finish it Im restarting back on insane

I'm at the start of the final section after playing through on hardcore in co-op all the way. So far its had some interesting set pieces but I've not been feeling it as much as the first one. I don't know whether its just that I know how to take enemies out with relative ease now, but the up close battles from the first one seem to have gone, maybe I just play the game incredible safe now picking off enemies before they have a chance to get close (also the compition of getting kills when in co-op means you miss out on lots of satisfying finish moves). My memories of the first game was well planned out cover that you could work to flank your enemies and get in close for the kill. I miss that type of action, there was a bit of it at the start and the
were pretty great, but this stuff was core to my enjoyment of Gears.

Beyond the story campaign, Horde is absolutely incredible.

If you play solo Dom leaves you plenty and he aint that great at stopping the ticking bugs Ive done alot of close combat stuff against mobs on my own. You can either pick em off from afar or go right in for the kill and Ive already developed a fetish for softening up the last mob so he crawls to go in and stomp on his fat head. I like the way now when I know a big scene is coming up I can booby trap the walls and then you see Dom flying in after they have gone off below while your up top with sniper picking em off. On GOW1 he would just be dead screaming heal me now the get can crawl to me so he either does that or I leave him till Im finished lol

I know insane will be totally different as you pop your head up for more than a second and your dead on GOW1 and as they fire a heck of a lot more on 2 at you major tactics needed. I love the way some of the other touches just appear as f me moments like the first time I went to kill someone with a shield with melee only to find out he had a saw and ripped me apart and trying to stop the little sods from hitting switches. Basically they can do everything you can do now and its not just the cool Theron guards from end of act 3 on 1 that scare me tactics wise its all of em even the grunts.

Booby trap the walls? What are you using for that?

I got addicted to the sniper rifle in this one, something I barely ever used in GoW1 until the very end. I was constantly clearing as much as I could before going anywhere. Often, Dom would sweep the place for me anyway. But you're right that he seemed rubbish against the tickers.

Err, grenades... hit b to mellee attack them to a wall/barrier. When an enemy comes close BOOM. Works with all types of grenades.

I had no idea you could do that. Was that in the first one too?

There is an achievement for doing it too...

Don't know if anything like this has been mentioned but ive had a thought about the story....

                                I think that the

monsters from the lab could play a much bigger part in a sequel, sort of like the flood from halo. The queen hints that Marcus' dad may have switched sides and started working with the locust, perhapse its planned that in the third game the humans and the remaining locust join forces to fight these new bad guys?

Not really sure how that would work, but just a thought.
