I agree with the boss criticisms but still I don't think it ruins or even detracts from the game.
I'm not missing the point at all, I play alot of FPS's, I know what the point of them is.

The fact is that them overwheling you with "size rather than strategy" as you put it means that the game simply isnt fun to play, theres nowhere to hide from them, and theres certainly no strategy required on your behalf you just run backwards shooting at them and hope for the best. Somthing which I havent had to do in a FPS since Wolfenstine 3d.

Thats not good design at all, its like the makers had no idea how to make the game challanging in a fair way, so just made it unfair.

Still, if you didn't like it fair enough.
Then you were extreamly lucky, as plenty of people who actualy are pretty good at FPS, like myself, found it a problem.

There are plenty of games that are hard and still fair, this isnt one of them

I don't think this game is hard, you just have to factor in which enemies you're facing, their numbers and how they're attacking. It also requires strategy when there's multiple enemy types due to the urgency to take down certain enemies first rather than just sniping across the screen.

Sure there's AI faults, as with any game, but it's not bad. I've played the game a lot and I've noticed that in certain situations you can pin down their advances and they'll retreat, go for cover and try a different approach.

Maybe the problem is people who think they're good at FPSs have approached this in the same way they always do and because Resistance 2 is a little bit different they've had their ass handed to them making them bitter?

        lol...

        ....and no

Well personally I'm not bitter, i don't care about having my ass handed to me if a game is fair (I'm a Mega Man 9 fan). I'm just saying why its not a good game, there are plenty of games that play like it, but they are cheap budget FPS's on the PC that no one likes becuase they are unfair and rubbish.

And thats basicaly the problem, it plays like a bad cheap budget FPS, but it clearly isnt, so its a frustrating experience all round.

Well, I'm at the latter levels on this bad boy and you know what, I actually really like it. Yeah I have my share of criticisms, most of which have been highlighted on this thread, but the mark of the game is, depsite these flaws, I'm really liking it. The story and universe is engaging, I like the combat, the different weapons and the challenge.

I also had a tilt at the multi player last night, and normally I don't like the adversarial type multiplayer but again I had a blast (maybe a one off I don'ty know). I will definitely try and play more multi on this one. All in all, I can forgive its many faults and R2 gets a double thumbs up (so far!!).

Well I have started to give multiplayer a go and am loving it. The Co-op game is actually really enjoyable much to my surprise.

Definitely the most enjoyable online multiplayer for me since Rainbow Six Vegas.

Dunno why there is so much R2 hate around. This is becoming a great game in my eyes.

Looking to start a playthrough of this. So far a friend off the forum is interested and Quality Chimp from here is up for it. Anyone else?

The more the better for co-op. Was really impressed with gameplay video reviews for this and have only just come across it due to owning my ps3 for a week. I have found most games on here to be far more interesting than the xbox that's for sure.

Normally I'd be up for it but my PS3 is still blown up

I like it and will give it a go, the only issues I have and said before is that it's too dark and the viewpoint is too low.

Just to update guys, headsets are sorted now and will be ready to roll any time. Head sets are vital when playing online for me so I hope you all have one and will join in the banter.
