Finally had a chance to play this last night but only managed the first quest, i'm full of questions!

With monogrinders, they increase the star level of your weapon right? And stars equal rarity and power? Do you use them via a shop or can i do it out in the field?

If i save and quit mid mission i know i don't keep the mission progression, but do i keep exp and items collected?

If i die to i have to reload from the last save point or do i wake up in town with the stuff i have earned ala dragon quest?

Photon drops, what are they used for?

I'm assuming box colours denote content quality, what is the order between green,blue and brown diamond boxes?

I think...you use Grinders to improve your weapons. YOu've eventually grind them enough to be able to fortify abilities. Monogrinders will grind weapon ranked between 1 to 3. Above that, you need the other types of grinders.

I think you use the Photon Drops to exchange for rare goods....somewhere?

a secret area opens up that you can access by going to the manhole. There you can exchange photon drops for weapons and items, and use enemy body parts to make other weapons. That's also where the vending machine is that takes codes to give you special weapons.

Added my friend code to the list on online gaming. As I'm new to the game i'm still struggling trying to hit enemies and get my timing right on triple strikes, hopefully it will all come with time! Is it me or can you only lock onto an enemy if you are very close to them?

I think the timing on combos is tighter than it was in PSO. Couldn't you just mash the button in that? In this if you press the button too early, it ends the sequence.

Going to try and get online at the weekend. I've been stuck at work for most of this week so haven't had much of a chance. It'll be nice to play with real people, as the AI is a bit rubbish.

@briareos: Yep, that's the case. I just don't bother with the lock unless I'm fighting a boss and want to dive out of the way.

@JamesS: PSO wouldn't let you mash away. Took me a long time to get used to that.

Yeah, you're right. You'd think I'd remember how PSO worked given the hundreds of hours I spent playing it.

It's actually the item type. Brown is a weapon, blue armour and green a usable item. There used to be red rare item boxes in PSO; not seen one in PS zero yet.

I have a rappy heart and a mag that is over level 60. Before i ruin all my good work can someone tell me what happens when you feed it to your mag? Is it a cosmetic change or will it's behavior and Photon Blast change too?

Behaviour as far as i'm aware will change. Photon Blast isn't supposed to but mine ended up doing so in the Japanese version.

I've read up that the Japanese version won't connect with the US version, is this true? If so i'll have to remake my characters and I really, really don't want to do that.

Just confirmed there are no problems playing together using Japanese and US copies of the game.
I helped Huxley level up to lvl6 (him US, me JPN).

If you meant that you can't TRANSFER characters, then no, there isn't an option for that.

Just got to what I think is the last level on normal over the weekend. Once i finish that does it unlock all the same stages on hard or do I have to go through the story mode from the beginning?

Also i know i should be asking this in the friend code section but what times are you going online? I didn't get any takers for a Saturday mission, are weeknights better for you guys?
