Perfect! I'm in the "miminal HUD and prompts = more immersion" but DeadSpace had a neat trick where the onscreen pointer came on when you clicked the button and it looked like it was a space age tool, thus not ruining immersion.
This wouldn't be possible in KZ2, so a button press job is perfect. In the rare occasion that I am totally lost I can resort to it, and for folk who like such prompts, they are satsifed too.
I think the polish on this game will make a lot of people happy!
PS: I still maintain that with Gtek triggers "Alt2 and Hold" work fine.

Is there no way to customize the controls to how you would like? i.e. set up each button separately. I couldn't see the option for it. The standard controls were pretty much perfect for me. I kept hitting circle for melee though so it'd be nice if that could be changed.
Gonna try playin with the gtek triggers now on a different control setup. Blatantly just an excuse to have another go! I'm liking it more each time I play.

strange that most of you here don't even notice, let alone bother, because also Little Big Planet has lots of motion blur too. have to add i've never suffered from first person motion sickness but motion blur in this extent hurts my eyes.

The fact that you can play through this demo multiple times and enjoy it as much or more than the previous time speaks volumes. I loved the single player COD4 game but when I attempted a second play through it suddenly revealed its underlying mechanics (scripts, trigger points etc.) to the extent that I abandoned it.

Motion blur makes 30fps more tolerable.
Sorry to hear you're not getting on with it, I know you were looking forward to it
anyway, thanks for your sympathy Matt. i think i need it in these days.Last edited by Uli; 06-02-2009, 12:53.

Some really good posts in here. This is spot on.
I loved the COD SP 1st time, but 2nd time on Vet I gave up, I just can't stand respawn points, and being scripted the game felt stale quite fast. COD4 MP was & is the best online MP I've played and COD4 was a great ride first time round. (Who can forget the impact of Death from above) but I've not felt compelled to re-play a demo so much since Mirrors Edge, and before that I can't think of any demo.
AI and the detail make the actual tactics of playing the game a joy. I loved Rainbow six Vegas 1 on 360, and whilst this was a bug fest, the game dynamics and cover system were a revolution for me.
Kz2 has (looking at the demo) most likely delivered the perfect game for me. Taking the best from tactical shooters, adding the madness and confusion froms scripted events like COD and then wrapping it up with adaptive Halo like AI that will keep each play through feel fresh. Many games get one part right, but something lets them down. KZ2 seems to have learned from these games and got LOTS right.
@Uli. The visuals are sublime but not perfect. They still blow away any other console game in motion when you combine the fidelity, realtime processing, lighting, particles and fact it can do all that AND have space for the best AI since Halo. I've played at 720p on my projector and continue to be blown away. As posted before the grainy effect helps hide some of the weaknesses and then dropping gamma had a super effect for me.
But these are symantecs, it looks absolutly amazing, head and shoulders above GOW2 (Which of course looked superb.)
So I disagree with your comments on motion blur ruining the experience, and I feel you are too critical of a machine that costs less than 30% of the cost of a rig that can run Crysis.
I followed PC gaming for many years, I purchased Voodoo 2, Voodoo 3, NV4600, R9800 and then finally 7800GT cards & machines. In the end the extra sharpness delivered was at a great cost, but it wasn't the cost that got me to give it up. It was the fact that the devs never optimised for a standard platform, using tricks and code to squeeze every last drop from the hardware.
Console games will never be able to beat the worlds best PC's, but at the price point KZ2's visuals are staggering and it amazes me that they managed to get so close to the target render.
If I was to be critical I would say that the geometry in the background is the area that it falls short. All CPU cycles are being used to render the close up stuff to look superb. In CGI everything is superb, including the space ship 10 miles away in the distance.
But in conclusion, they have pulled it off, and I believe that you will be in the minority if you think otherwise. But everyone is for sure entitled to their opinions, but as you suggest the motion blur makes the game unplayable, I would propose to the debate that I disagree, for the reasons listed.
