It tells you on the mission select screen how long you took, I dont feel i rushed it, took me 14 mins. Yup this does look stunning and much like the PS2 games before it was a couple of years befor some real draw droppers came out on the sony platforms, maybe something to do with Sony consoles not being the easiest to develop for.
So has the PS3 got to the top of its potential already or is there better to come. (ooops forgot the new team ico game)

I've had a few games now and I'm really not having any problems with the aiming at all.

It doesn't simplify things by using auto-aim which a lot of shooters seem to do. If you're able to run through the game picking people off as you can in many other games then you're doing it because you're very good at the game rather than it being easy to do.

You need to be far more thoughtful in how you're navigating the battlefield as you really can't reload anywhere you want to as you'll get ripped apart. A couple of times I found myself reloading to see the worrying site of two Helghast running straight towards me.

The demo is on the second of four skill levels and it's hard enough like this. The Elite level is going to be a right nightmare as the enemy seem to be able work their way around areas with in what always seems to be the worst way for you.

I like the fact that when you jump the camera seems to drop slightly before jumping like it would if you were really jumping. I can see myself spending quite a bit of time shooting peoples helmets off when the game turns up as I love the way their heads seem to bounce back when you do it.

As people have mentioned, the audio really stands out. In the warehouse I had a grenade thrown at me and I could here exactly where it was as it bounced across the concrete. There's loads of filters on the sound just like there is on the graphics and everything just fits in with the environment you're in.

There were a couple of things that I really didn't like though. There's an invisible wall at the river which doesn't let you enter the water at all. I understand while it's there but things like that annoy me in all games. I'm also really not keen on the revive ray thing. There's really no need for it in the game.

I've played through it using both a DS3 & a 360 pad and there really doesn't seem to be any benefit to either of them. If you don't like the controls using a DS3 then you're not going to like the controls using a 360 pad either.

I've really enjoyed playing it and also the online beta so I really can't wait to get the full game now.

Man i just wish this demo was longer! All it has done is make me want the full game even more. Its amazing. Now that i have the controls set to mimic CoD its so much better and easier. Also the cover button is so useful. Man, me want more!

Another thing I noticed was that you don't get that really annoying thing that you do in CoD where enemies endlessly re-spawn until you've reached a checkpoint 20 foot in front of you.

I really hated that and was worried it would be happening in this too but I'm glad to say that there was no sign of it in the demo.

Was pretty mint. Looks lovely and sounds nice to boot, can imagine how much more awesome it must be with some good speakers.
Agree with what people are saying about the analogue sticks on the dual-shock, just not up to standard. Hopefully with more time I'll get used to them so not a huge deal.

Only complaint i have is that it didn't look as good as the target render. :P

Enjoyed it after getting into the indoor section and fighting the controls, outdoor was just a mess. I Like the weight and animation the weapons and enemies have, the A.I. acts good enough for the normal setting and the graphics are really good, but nothing leaps and bounds ahead of Gears2 or Cyrsis. One thing i don't like is the controls, to titchy in scope, to much auto-aim when run and gunning between cover, no toggle for cover mode is pretty stupid and it wouldn't let me use scope straight out cover as it resets back to normal view.

yeah, looks lovely as long as you don't move. great.

meanwhile i think the PS3 GPU simply isn't capable of holding up the V-Sync at this level of graphical detail and simply uses motion blur to compensate for it. that's not at all a benchmark if you ask me.

No complaints from me. Loved it from start to finish. No-one's saying it's way ahead of Crysis, especially not Crysis jacked up, and no, as it is it's not leaps ahead of Epic's work with UE3.5 at first glance but I'd say you could still make a damn good argument for it being the best-looking console game bar none. But then I was never blown away by Gears like some people and didn't think #2 was a huge improvement over the first game. Motion blur doesn't bother me either. Sorry.

I do agree no scope out of cover is annoying, but other than that we're back in R6 Vegas territory, thank Christ - after finishing Gears 2, much as I loved that game it reminded me how much the stupid A-button cover system drove me up the goddamned wall.

Other than that, same as everyone else in the thumbs-up camp; ditto all the fantastic little details, the AI, the sound... loved it. Can't wait for the 27th on the strength of this and I wouldn't have believed it possible after the mess that was the first game.

You can't compare those two to each other. It's hard to directly say one is better than the other unless you're talking technically, as artistically they're quite different so people often talk about preferences rather than technical merits.

KZ2 has the best graphics in a console title I've seen. Comparisons to Gears2 will come, as for many (myself included) it's the best looking 360 title. Get them side by side and you may be surprised just how busy the KZ2 screen is.

Still, it's not doing a lot of the fancier stuff you see in Crysis. Crysis maxed out is beyond anything else out there, by quite a margin.

GG say they're using up to 60% of the SPEs. They're doing some kind of on-the-fly process loading, so the SPE use scales up when needed, and it hits a maximum of 60%. That's not to say the game could be 40% better, because they'll be pushing the GPU and PPU as hard as they could get away with. So there is some to give, and new tricks will be learnt.

GG have said the game is locked at 30fps. I don't believe that, there's bound to be some frame dropping at times. They'll be proper benchmarks soon enough, but I think you'll find it's pretty solid at 30fps most of the time and the motion blur is an artistic choice, like some of the other post processing effects. Motion blur makes 30fps more tolerable.

Sorry to hear you're not getting on with it, I know you were looking forward to it

It really is stunning to look at. The demo impressed me from start to finish. Its just the 10+ year control pad (the essence of it) is a bit ****ty.

Noticed a few more things after my 5th or 6th go.

Interesting use of deliberate vignetting. I think it adds to the atmosphere but I can't explain why.

I noticed that the dialog in the set pieces differs occasionally. A minor point but still.

I don't know what people's problem is with the controls. I think they feel bloody brilliant. There is nothing wrong with the DS3 sticks just as there was nothing wrong with the DS2 ones. People who are used to XBox pads will notice that they have less resistance but that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with them. I can pull off precision headshots pretty easily now. The shooting mechanic feels a lot more realistic than in other games. Not being able to pull off a headshot while you're running is realistic, not broken controls.

Anyway, something would have to go unbelievably wrong for this not to be the best single player FPS I've ever played. Yes, I gleaned that from a 15 minute demo.
