I tried to play it again the second time, I spent 5 minutes going through the controls and did not find on set that comfortably suits the way I am used to playing an FPS.

Aiming was an absolute farce which to be fair is not all the game's fault and is partly the dual**** 3's fault. I would never be able to enjoy multiplayer because of the controls - so that rules that out.
If multiplayer is the best thing about this game would it not have made more sense to demo that?

It looks good, but to my eyes no better than anything else I have seen on the PS3. All in all I would say its probably a good game (once you can adapt to dreadful controls and aiming) but nothing spectacular and certainly doesn't hint at anything innovative. Certainly not must rush out and buy - unless you really love FPS.

      ROFL!!!

Well our woman to like getting Killzowned with big guns

Anyway back on subject, i agree i wish the demo would have been bigger. Even a touch of Multiplayer, because really it left a lot of people confused. Its not really enough to show people how good the game is because you never really get a chance to "get" into the game.

Personally i found everything alright, but some didnt. IMO a bigger demo was needed.

Not to mention things for trophies and one of the best MP games around!.
I'll take it all back if the full game suddenly opens up with options and new ways to tackle situations. If the vehicles sections aren't on rails and are half as good as Halo's i'll eat humble pie. However, the full game would have to be much better than the demo for me to be interested. It may have only been 8 mins long, but I was bored in those 8 minutes.

And the controls really are bloody awful.

While I don't want to get into an arguement and would rather just present my own impressions the fact that 1.1 million members of the public have preordered doesn't really convince me to go out and buy the game especially when I consider myself more intelligent, and certainly more aware of my own tastes than them.

A far larger number of people than that watch Eastenders every [day? episode?] in the UK but I am quite aware that it certainly does not pass as acceptable entertainment for me (and I would suspect you also).

He's Australian. Eastenders is far too high brow for him.

I may keep running with this for a while now. You started it Cuber

H-Man Ok than. i have read are awesome are

              Tanks and especially the mechs!

Also one level i dont know which has you

shooting turrets from and aircraft like "Black Cats" from CoD WAW

Honestly The bit frm the demo looks crap compared to what is in store in the final game. The

              Nuke Bomb

              looks unreal.

Please just watch this and see some of the environments and sections on offer and how much better they look than the demo. Judging that the game is **** by such a short demo is not really the best thing to do.

              * Spoilers are hidden. Some may know others may not. Read at own risk.

And EastEnders? Pfft i seen that **** on a channel we have over here called UKTV. Your right, you probably are a better judge than most people. But still, that amount of pre-orders cant be scoffed at.

And i didnt start anything I its not my fault we are the outcasts of your nation, but are now better at you guys at everything. I mean, the only good thing you had going was Red Dwarf and you left it unfinished! But hey, Ladette To Lady is cool, or Bargain Hunt, because i know how much you guys love an Auction

Maybe EDGE would of scored it higher if you could auction Helgast gear and David Dickenson was the Auctioneer

Short but very sweet seems to be the perfect description of the demo for me.

There is really nothing new here but the visual and audio onslaught does a wonderful job of letting you know you are in a big battle. I must have spent a good 10-15mins hanging back just to watch what was going on around me.

Add the weighty feel of the character and what appears to be great AI and its all looking pretty exciting. I chuckled out loud to myself a couple of times in the warehouse watching the AI in sheer suprise at what was going on around me.

I haven't read the Edge review yet but the full game must fall some way short of the demo to deserve a 7.

There certainly is a lot of Killzone hate out there.

I thought overall COD4 was overrated and I don't know why its controls are set as some kind of perfect benchmark. But hey that's just me.

Similar rants on the controls can be found in the Resi 5 demo.

Edge don't rate any game that doesn't appear on either Wii or 360. Their overall conclusions certainly come across as clutching at straws.

I'll reserve my final judgement after playing the full game but the demo certainly has left an extremely positive impression on me.

That'd explain LBP's 10/10 then? Absolutely disagree with what you're saying about Edge and t3h bias. The review of KZ2 is an odd one though, with the story bearing the bulk of the criticism. However, this is the same mag that reviewed GoW2 at 9/10, and **** me if that's not one the worst stories I've ever played through in a game, completely laughable. Now the gameplay in Gears doesn't work for me either, but that's by the by. So a positively reviewed game given the same numerical value as Fallout 3, Valkyria Chronicles, Banjo Nuts and Bolts etc? Sounds ok to me.

Given the content of the "Edge 10/10s" thread then they might be doing us all a favour by rating it on the lower end of the scale. If the game is genuinely good it'll save us all from years of bitching.

However, I believe they started that review with an antagonistic line about how all Killzone fans are fanboys.. hardly speaks volumes for their impartiality.

I think the point is that although it's possible for a person to always agree with a particular publications review scores, it's highly unlikely. I have found Edge to be a magazine with whose scores I nearly always disagree. That's why I don't buy it:

Recent edge scores + my scores:

                        Gears 2 - Edge:9, Me:6
                        Valkyria - Edge:7, Me:9
                        Fallout - Edge:7, Me:9

There appears to be a pattern there but there really isn't. It's almost impossible to predict an Edge score and because of that they are totally useless as any kind of buying guide. You never know what they're going to gush about or what kind of Bee they're going to have in their bonnet about a particular part of a game. They are random, unpredictable and IMO love a bit of controversy. Sometimes, purely by chance I'll agree with them e.g. LBP.

Others here have the same views on KZ2 as Edge do. It's just an opinion. What annoys me is that some people hold Edge in higher regard than every other publication but they really aren't; they're just the same anyone else except each particular Edge reviewer hides behind anonymity. If someone here, who had previously said Gears 2 warranted a 9/10 and made no reference to the storyline or had said the storyline was good were to then slate KZ2 for having a bad storyline then they'd be called to order by everyone here.

The thing is that Edge hyped up Killzone 2 in the previous few months, with big articles about the game; then they give it a 7/10. Their reviews aren't consistant recently, but remember that 7 is still a good mark, 5 is an average game, so it's better than that, but turned out to be worse than what was expected (I haven't read their review yet, so can't comment on what they said).

I have played the demo myself and found it to be an average shooter with high production values; creating big set pieces, but a poorly executed game. Also the dead zone or latency when aiming is incredibly frustrating, it's not precise like COD4 or Halo's combat when it really should be considering they're pushing to be one of the best FPS's, where it's all about the combat.

Nuts to EDGE, if they didn't like the game but you doo who cares?

They gave the first Killzone a 6 and bashed it to bits. Didn't stop me from enjoying it for hundreds of hours in single player and multiplayer.

Best way to play killzone 2 i've found is to turn off the cross-hair, subtitles, HUD and hints, for pure immersion. The game really does benefit from all the bull**** cut away and just having the gun on screen.

Killzone 2 has no latency or dead zone that I've noticed, just a level of realism that I've never seen in a shooter before. The only reason I care whether or not other people enjoy it is because I want them to make Killzone 3 and 4 etc.

I agree wish fishbowlhead regarding the immersion.

                              Hopefully Edge will die soon.

Today i was stuffing around and doing the glitches and it was fun. Collected 2 Helghast symbols and glitched past where the demo should end. After you go through the door there is a lot more combat but as soo as you turn around it ends. Quite fun actually.
